This thesis starts with a critical mind on how to understand and approach the paradigm of the East Asian region. As a theoretical basis, the emphasis is placed on the Concept of Change[易道] in The Book of Changes and the Change-Theory[易學] based on the principle of the Change-Circulation[變通]. Change-theoritical thought is based on the organic world view in a modern sense.
As a methodology that approaches organic thinking to change-theoritical thought, it connects Whitehead's theory as a representative figure of Philosophy of Organism. Whitehead presented a methodology of organic philosophy that regards creativity as the source of novelty. The concept of entity, the basic unit of Philosophy of Organism presented by Whitehead, is the actual entity of the process, and I want to compare it with the change-circulatative mechanism of 『The Book of Changes』. In other words, It is compared and analyzed ‘actual entity’, ‘event’, ‘creation’, and ‘concrescence’, which are the main concepts and process principles of the paradigm of Philosophy of Organism, in relation to the ontology of change-circulation, the epistemology, the axiology, and the time and space of GeonGon[乾坤].
Based on this methodology, the possibility of an East Asian paradigm in change-theoritical thought is sought. This is expected to be a good example of revealing the clues of the human ontological doctrine and its essence and finding the ethical essence and its East Asian values in it.
The world view of 『The Book of Changes』 is based on the possibility of change in the universe or nature regarding human existence and value. Here, the categories such as heaven·earth[天地], GeonGon and yinyang[陰陽] and the organic method according to them are operating. Ontological, epistemological, and axiological arguments are reflected in the method. In this organic world, a series of milestones for human existence and value, that is, a view of the universe, a view of life, and a view of easy and simple[易簡], are projected.
In 『The Book of Changes』, the principle by which all things in the universe are created and changed is called change-circulation. This principle is manifested as the spirit of life, which is ‘life consciousness’. This consciousness of life is well represented by the human view of the universe. The view of the universe is recognized through the harmony of the sky and the earth, and the seasonal changes and cycles between them.
Life discourse is a philosophical reasoning about life. In the capitalist social structure, in which only material discourse dominated by capital and technology has been recognized for its functional effectiveness since the modern era, there are ways to detect signs of a crisis of the times and understand the trend of change, and metamorphosis to create norms of human society for a new future. A variation of is needed.
『The Book of Changes』 is the way that enables humans living in modern civilization to transform into owners of moral consciousness through self-awareness. Everyone possesses the nature bestowed by heaven and is a resident of the mysterious universe. Through this, he can become a being who knows the law of the sky and creates and continues a new civilization and history with new values and world views.
