There are various genres of performing arts such as opera, musical, theater, and concert, of which it can be seen from various data that musicals are most quickly adapting to and accepting changes through the needs of the public and the flow of the times. In line with these changes, it was confirmed that musical education was also implementing a curriculum to train professional actors as well as professional personnel by opening a musical department at the university. Starting with the opening of the Department of Musical at Baekje University of Arts in 2000, 32 universities nationwide have opened musical departments or musical majors to train musical actors and professionals. For musical actors, basic training for the delivery of lines and lyrics is basically important. The curriculum status of the department of musical in universities for these basic training and the current status of music education among them were investigated and analyzed intensively. In order to compare foreign cases and confirm commonalities and differences with the domestic situation, cases in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan were compared and analyzed, and a survey was conducted by forming a group of musical students, graduates, and experts to understand the actual status of domestic cases.
Through this study, music education in the domestic musical department showed high satisfaction, while it confirmed areas to be improved. I would like to suggest three ways to improve the musical department curriculum.
First, expanding individual class participation time.
Second, continuous and systematic education of basic music education.
Third, the standard curriculum for musical and music education.
The absolute lack of time distributed to each student and the absolute number of classes given to professors should be improved, and students should lead to improvement in musical ability through continuous and systematic basic music education. In addition, by establishing a standard curriculum for musical department music education, we propose a strong education for basic music education through systematic education at each stage.
This study clearly has limitations. There was a lack of analysis of the process of change in the musical department curriculum that has been in line with the times, and it is thought that this can be supplemented by continuing future research.
At a time when the Korean musical market has already made rapid progress in size and plays a major role in popular culture and arts, the training of more professional and talented musical actors will strengthen the Korean musical market. In order to foster more professional musical actors, we hope that the improvement of musical music education and systematic education plans will lead to the production of more talented and professional musical actors in the future.
