The purpose of this study was to identify effects on resilience and psychological burnout by conducting the group art therapy program of the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care.
The research object was the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care working at the D hospital and N hospital in Seoul city. All research participants were 16 people. 8 people belonged to the experiment group and other 8 people belonged to the control group. The research conducted from February on 2019 and to April. This research conducted a total of eight programs of the experiment group for 70 to 90 minutes a week by excluding pre and post tests.
Resilience tests and psychological burnout tests as research tools were used and the quantitative analysis of study results was progressed by using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test of SPSS 22.0. The study results were as follows.
First, group art therapy had effects on resilience of the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care. Group art therapy statistically had positive and significant effects on a part of resilience only in the case of the experiment group.
Second, group art therapy had effects on psychological burnout of the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care. Group art therapy statistically had positive and significant effects on psychological burnout only in the case of the experiment group.
Thus, group art therapy programs had effects on resilience and psychological burnout of the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care and had positive impacts on them. This study was significant because one could rightly understand oneself and positively thought and had impacts on improvements in resilience through activities and because the multidisciplinary team found its values as its team in hospice and palliative care and recognized positive resources around them and reduced psychological burnout by conducting group art therapy programs of the multidisciplinary team in hospice and palliative care. These programs will be utilized as programs reducing their burnout through improvements in resilience for mental laborers and medical teams who have gotten lots of experiences in psychological burnout.
