Jujadaejeon(朱子大全), a collection of works by Zhu Xi, the well-known Confucian scholar during Song Dynasty, is part of the important literature that was transmitted from China and had impacts on the Joseon society. This study set out examine the publication of his Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) and analyze the organization, publication, and works of anthology that contained works from Jujadaejeon(朱子大全). The findings were summarized as follows:

    1) Jujadaejeon(朱子大全), a collection of works by Zhu Xi, was published in print in Joseon first in 1543 with the Cheonsun(天順) edition(1460) that was the reprint version of the Geonanseowon(建安書院). Since then demand for the collection increased, and it went through proofreading and supplementation. It was further published four times including the printed book version in 1575, the block book version in 1635, and also the block book version in 1771, thus meeting the Joseon scholars' need for a collection of Zhu Xi's works.

    2) In addition to Jujadaejeon(朱子大全), three other collections of Zhu Xi's works were transmitted from China to Joseon including Hoiamsimuncho(晦庵詩文抄), Jayangmunjip(紫陽文集), and Hoiamseonsaengjumungongsijip(晦庵先生朱文公詩集). The publication of these three collections of his works was, however, temporary, being restricted to the 16th century when the spread of Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) began.

    * A thesis submitted to the Council of the Graduate School of Kyungpook National University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Ph. D. in June 2018.
    3) Joseon's scholars recognized Zhu Xi as Confucius' successor and actively accepted his collection of works. The organization and publication of all kinds of anthologies, which selected and organized certain works from Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) comprised of as many as 121 volumes according to different purposes, began in the early 16th century even before the publication of Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) in 1543 and continued into the latter part of Joseon.

    4) There were total 14 kinds of anthologies of Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) published during Joseon. They were categorized into the ones that selected a work according to a given goal and added explanations, the ones that selected works of certain types such as public appeals and letters, and the ones that selected from the entire works regardless of the type. The anthologies were as follows:
① The ones under the first category were Park Yeong's Baekrokdonggyuhae(白鹿洞規解)(1518), which offered explanations about Baekrokdongseowonhakgyu(白鹿洞書院學規), KimAhnGuk's Jujajeungsonryeosihyangyak(朱子增損呂氏鄕約)(1518), which offered an interpretation of Yeosihyangyak(呂氏鄕約) in Hangul, KimInHu's Jujagyeongyeongangui(朱子經筵講義)(1549), which selected and published Gyeongyeongangui(經筵講義), and LeeSangJeong's Gyeongjaejamjipseol(敬齋箴集說)(1750), which offered an interpretation of Gyeongjaejam(敬齋箴).
② The ones based on letters include Lee Hwang's Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要)(1561) containing 1,236 letters, Jo Ik's Juseoyoryu(朱書要類)(1642) containing 665 letters from Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要), and King Jeongjo's Juseobaekseon(朱書百選)(1794) containing 104 letters. The ones based on public appeals include Lee Jeong-suk's Jujabongsachoryak(朱子封事抄略)(1518) containing 15 Bongsas and Jujabongsa(朱子封事)(1728) published as a teaching material for Gyeongyeon(經筵).
③ The ones under the third category include Gi Dae-seung's Jujamunrok(朱子文錄)(1557) containing 145 works, Seong Hon's Jumunjigyeol(朱門旨訣)(1571) containing 26 works, Jeong Gyeong-se's Jumunjakhae(朱文酌海)(1622) containing 329 works selected to supplement Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要) mainly based on letters, Song Si-yeol's Jeoljaktongpyeon(節酌通編)(1683) to add 150 works omitted from his Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要) and Jumunjakhae(朱文酌海), and Song Si-yeol's Jumunchoseon(朱文抄選)(1683) containing 37 works from Jeoljaktongpyeon(節酌通編) as a teaching material for Gyeongyeon(經筵).

    5) Of the 14 anthologies, two were published two times or more in a block book or other forms and had impacts on the Joseon society were Jujajeungsonryeosihyangyak(朱子增損呂氏鄕約) published 12 times and Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要) published nine times. Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要) published by Geumseongjeongsa was newly introduced in the present study.

    6) Jujadaejeon(朱子大全) consists of total 3,645 works except for poems. Of them, 1,734 were selected by 14 anthologies, which means that the selection rate was 47.6%. The works selected were categorized into public appeals, letters, and others.
① Total 306 public appeals were published from Volume 11 to Volume 23, and 89 public appeals were selected for eight anthologies, which means the selection rate was 29.1%. The selection frequency of the 89 public appeals ranged from one to seven. Seven of them were selected six times or more, and they covered the content of direct remonstration to emperors such as the roles of an emperor, restoration of territory, principles of national administration, establishment of the court's discipline and securement of communication channel between the king and his subjects, recruitment of right talents, and criticism of emperors' policies.
② Total 2,365 letters were found in the collection, and 1,325 letters were selected for eight anthologies, which meant the selection rate was 56%. The high selection rate was due to the fact that 1,236 letters were selected for Jujaseojeolyo(朱子書節要). The selection frequency of 1,325 letters ranged from one to six with seven, 25, 99, 571, 622, and one letters selected six, five, four, three, two, and one times, respectively. The seven letters of the highest selection frequency mainly covered relations with Jin Dynasty, advocacy of factions, criticism of Buddhism, criticism of Sima Guang's historic viewpoint, criticism of Chen Chun's utilitarianism, judgment criteria of talents, and Sadan.
③ The other works in the collection excluding public appeals and letters were 974, and 319 were selected for eight anthologies, which meant the selection rate was 32.6%. The selection frequency of 319 ranged from one to four. 158(49.5%) and 111(34.8%) were selected once and twice, respectively, which means that 269(84.3%) were selected once or twice. In addition, 46(14.4%) and four(1.6%) were selected three and four times, respectively, which means that 50(15.7%) were selected three or four times. The selection rate of other works was heightened as 126(39.4%) were added to Song Si-yeol's Jeoljaktongpyeonboyu(節酌通編補遺).
