Directed by prof. Shin Jin-Sook, Ph. D.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of psychomotor program on the self-efficacy and on-task behaviors of preschoolers with developmental delay. Based on the score results of Korean-Child Development Inventory(K-CDI) test, this study was to choose 6 preschoolers with developmental delay who had attended 'A' as experimental group and 'B' as control group integrated childcare centers for young children with disabilities located each in 'K' and 'C' city, Gyeongnam ,
For research method, this study was to apply the control group pretest-posttest design. The independent variable in this study is psychomotor program, and the dependent variables are on-task behaviors and self-efficacy for the preschoolers with developmental delay. The psychomotor program as independent variable in this experiment was conducted as an object of experimental group for 40 minutes during 28 sessions.
From the result of this research above, it may be summed up as follows.
In case of on-task behaviors for the first preschoolers with developmental delay as dependent variable, this study was to measure the on-task behaviors happened in the course of structured play activity before and after the independent variable intervention was provided, not measure them under the situation that the independent variable intervention was provided. As a result, the psychomotor program significantly improved the on-task behaviors in the regular course of structured play activity.
In case of self-efficacy for the second preschoolers with developmental delay as dependent variable, this study was to conduct the self-efficacy test individually targeted to the research object like the childcare teachers concerned and object mothers
To conclude, the psychomotor program improved the on-task behaviors for the preschoolers with developmental delay and significantly improved the self-efficacy for the preschoolers with developmental delay. Therefore, the significance of the study can be found in that it applied the autonomously ongoing child-centered psychomotor program with the social, emotional and physical unified and holistic human development for the children, mediated by 'movement' and 'play', focusing the basis of development on the physical activity, in order to improve the active on-task behaviors as well as improve the self-efficacy for the preschoolers with developmental delay.
