라반 움직임 이론에 기반한 무브먼트 리터러시 교육의 의미

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 라반 움직임 이론에 기반한 무브먼트 리터러시의 개념과 교육의 의미를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 통해 무브먼트 리터러시를 댄스 리터러시의 핵심 요소로 제안하고자 하였다.
본 연구는 라반 움직임 이론 및 댄스 리터러시 관련 자료들을 참고하여 문헌연구로 진행되었다. 연구에는 움직임 기록 체계인 모티프 표기법과 움직임 분석 체계인 라반 움직임 분석이 활용되었다. 각 체계의 구성요소에 대한 논의를 통해 다음과 같은 내용을 확인할 수 있었다.
첫째, 모티프 표기법은 신체, 무게, 공간, 시간의 구조를 파악하여 몸과 움직임에 대한 구조 이해를 함양한다.
둘째, 라반 움직임 분석은 신체, 에포트, 셰이프, 공간의 특질을 파악하여 몸과 움직임에 대한 특질 이해를 함양한다.
위의 내용을 바탕으로 본 연구에서 탐색한 무브먼트 리터러시 교육의 의미는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 몸과 움직임의 구조 및 특질에 대한 이해는 움직임을 이해하게 한다.
둘째, 움직임에 대한 이해는 자기 자신, 타인, 사회문화적 집단을 이해하게 한다.
셋째, 무브먼트 리터러시는 세상을 이해하고 경험하게 한다.
넷째, 무브먼트 리터러시는 소통과 창조를 이끈다.
무브먼트 리터러시를 통해 함양된 다양한 이해 및 활용 능력은 궁극적으로 무용을 이해하고 활용하는 댄스 리터러시가 된다. 따라서 무브먼트 리터러시는 댄스 리터러시를 개발하는 기초이며 핵심 요소이다.
본 연구 결과 라반 움직임 이론에 기반한 무브먼트 리터러시는 교육적으로 유의미하며, 오늘날 논의되고 있는 댄스 리터러시 패러다임에 부합하는 이론이자 실제로서 무용교육에서 중요하게 다루어질 필요가 있다. 이에 따라 무브먼트 리터러시에 대한 학문적인 논의와 교육에서의 실천적 접근이 활성화되길 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore the concept and educational significances of Movement Literacy based on Laban movement theories. This study proposes Movement Literacy, which is the ability to read and write human body and movement, as a core element of Dance Literacy.
This study reviewed various sources relevant to Laban movement theories and Dance Literacy. It applied the movement notation system, Motif writing and the movement analysis system, Laban Movement Analysis in order to determine Movement Literacy. By discussing each system’s elements, this research achieved following results:
First, Motif writing provides the basis to understand the structure of human body, movement level, movement directions and movement time. Motif writing develops structural understanding of body and movement.
Second, Laban Movement Analysis provides the basis to understand the quality of Body, Effort, Shape and Space. Laban Movement Analysis develops qualitative understanding of body and movement.
These structural and qualitative understandings can be integrated into Movement Literacy and bring four educational significances as follows.
First, the understanding of movement structure and quality enables one to comprehend movement in general.
Second, the comprehension of movement develops the understanding of one’s self, of the others and of socio-cultural community.
Third, Movement Literacy helps one to understand and experience the world.
Fourth, Movement Literacy helps to lead communication and creation of ideas.
As briefly introduced above, such understanding of Movement Literacy will ultimately lead to understanding of dance. Therefore, Movement Literacy is a basic and core element of Dance Literacy.
In conclusion, Movement Literacy based on Laban movement theories is significant in education and adequate to Dance Literacy paradigm these days. Therefore, Movement Literacy should be implemented in Dance Literacy research and education, so that more individuals become aware of their bodies, movements, others and the world.
