The objective of this research is to verify the mediating effects of the emotional dysregulation in the relationship between adult attachment and smartphone addiction. The hypothesis developed here is that verifying the medium role of the emotional dysregulation in two phases of the adult attachment(attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance) can lay the foundation for obtaining useful basic data so that counselors in the field can provide specific and effective intervention for clients suffering from the difficulty of the smartphone addiction.
The themes of this research are to identify; does the emotional dysregulation mediate the effect of a relationship between the adult attachment and the smartphone addiction.
To solve the study questions, the paper employs the following study procedures. The subjects of the research 475 adult located in Icheon, Cheongju. And the article utilized the adult attachment scale, the emotional dysregulation scale, and the smartphone addiction scale. Except for Missing data, or research which is not subject, 422 data were used for analysis on the resulting data. Regarding the result analysis went through descriptive statistics, frequency analysis and correlation analysis. To verify the effect of medium of the emotional dysregulation, used hierarchical regression analysis proposed by Baron and Kenny(1986), In addition, the significance of the mediator effects examined though the Sobel Test.
The research analysis has led to the following results.
First, the correlation analysis of each factor showed that the attachment anxiety and attachment avoid had a positive impact to both the emotional dysregulation and the smartphone addiction. Second, the emotional dysregulation showed a statistically significant positive correlation with smartphone addiction and the emotional dysregulation had a positive impact to smartphone addiction. Third, it was shown that he the emotional dysregulation had the partial mediation effect in the attachment anxiety and smartphone addiction.
The study is significant in determining that the adult attachment of adult(man, woman) has the positive effect on the smartphone addiction and the smartphone addiction had the mediation effect in the emotional dysregulation from empirical research. On the basis of the result, adult have help from the intervention of emotional regulation to able to make a healthy relationships, implications for counseling. Limitation of this study and follow-up of the actual proposals for research are discussed.
