한국어 간접인용 표현의 장르 기반적 특징 연구 : 인용표지 ‘-다고’의 간접인용 표현을 중심으로

The aim of this study is to reveal genre-based features of Korean indirect quotation to assist learners to recognize the context using the grammar. Until recently, relatively little attention had been paid to the context features of indirect quotation. By dwelling upon little emphasis on the context features of indirect quotation, learners have used indirect quotation unnaturally. To promote learners to use indirect quotation naturally as a communication strategy, teachers should provide indirect quotation within the context. The context of indirect quotation can be illustrated through discourse genres which are classified by typical discourse contexts. As stated earlier, this paper attempts to analyze indirect quotation in different discourse genres, and show genre-based features. This present paper consists of six parts.
In chapter 1, previous studies about pedagogical issues related to indirect quotation are presented and explained. In addition, to focus on specific contexts of indirect quotation, discourse genres are selected. Selected written genres are newspaper reports, newspaper editorial articles, academic articles, and letters. Selected spoken genres are lectures, discussions, daily conversations, and monologues. Then, the expressions of indirect quotation with quotation marker ‘-dago’ are extracted from genre corpus.
In chapter 2, theoretical background about the concept of quotation and discourse genres are presented and build up the criteria for analyzing usages and communication strategies of indirect quotation.
In chapter 3 and 4, the usages and the communication strategies of indirect quotation in each genre are analyzed. In chapater 3, Appearance patterns of quotation markers such as ‘-dago’, ‘-daeyo’, and original speakers, characteristics of indirect quotation, and major quotation verbs in each genre are demonstrated. In chapter 4, considering text structure, original speakers, genre characteristics, the communication strategies of indirect quotation in each genre are described.
In chapter 5, the paper deals with the implication of genre analysis. The usages of indirect quotation in each genre are compares with other genres. Moreover, the communication strategies of indirect quotation in each genre are synthesized, and summarized as five strategies.
In chapter 6, the research is concluded with providing genre-based features of Korean indirect quotation.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

그간 한국어교육에서 간접인용은 맥락적 특징보다는 형태·통사적 특징에 주목된 채 논의되어 왔다. 그러나 이는 학습자가 한국어 간접인용 표현이 나타나는 맥락을 제대로 인지하지 못하고 간접인용을 부자연스럽게 사용하는 결과를 초래할 수도 있다. 학습자가 간접인용을 자연스럽고 전략적으로 사용하도록 유도하기 위해서는 간접인용 표현이 나타나는 맥락을 함께 제시하여 교육하는 방안을 고려해 볼 수 있을 것이다.
본고는 간접인용 표현이 나타나는 맥락을 특정 담화 맥락이 유형화된 담화 장르를 통해 살피고자 한다. 장르별 담화에는 한국어 화자들의 언어 사용 관습이 내재되어 있어 한국어 간접인용 표현의 고유한 특성을 살필 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 담화 장르별로 나타나는 한국어 간접인용 표현의 특징을 논의하여 궁극적으로는 문법이 사용되는 맥락을 교육하기 위해 한국어교육에서 장르를 기반으로 문법을 제시하는 방법의 교육적 방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
제1장에서는 간접인용 표현의 장르 기반적 특징을 제시하기 위해 선행연구를 살핀 다음 분석할 담화 장르를 선정하였다. 문어 담화로는 신문 기사, 신문 사설, 학술 논문, 생활문을, 구어 담화로는 강의, 토론, 대화, 독백을 선정한 후 장르별 말뭉치에서 인용표지 ‘-다고’의 간접인용 표현 용례를 추출하였다.
제2장에서는 인용의 범주와 담화 장르별 특성에 대한 이론적 배경을 논의하였다. 먼저 인용은 인용문의 관점에 따라 직접인용과 간접인용으로, 원 발화자에 따라 타인인용과 자기인용, 인용의 성격에 따라 발화인용과 생각인용으로 분류된다. 논의된 인용의 범주는 장르별 간접인용 표현의 사용 양상에 대한 분석 기준으로 설정하였다. 또한 장르분석을 위해 선정된 여덟 가지 담화 장르는 각기 다른 특성을 지니는데 담화 장르별 특성은 장르별 간접인용 표현의 의사소통 전략에 대한 분석 기준으로 설정하였다.
제3장에서는 인용의 범주를 기준으로 장르별 간접인용 표현의 사용 양상을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 간접인용 표현의 인용표지는 신문 기사, 신문 사설, 학술 논문에서 ‘-다고’의 형태로만 나타난 반면 대화, 독백에서는 주로 ‘-대요’의 형태로 나타났다. 또한 신문 기사, 대화에서는 타인인용과 발화인용이 높은 비중으로 나타났으며 학술 논문, 토론, 신문 사설에서는 자기인용과 생각인용이 높은 비중으로 나타났다.
제4장에서는 개별 장르의 특성을 기반으로 장르별 간접인용 표현의 의사소통 전략을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 신문 기사, 신문 사설, 학술 논문, 강연에서는 텍스트 구조 내 출현 위치에 따라, 토론에서는 자기인용과 타인인용에 따라, 대화에서는 결속 기제를 기반으로 의사소통 전략이 다르게 나타났다. 반면 독백과 생활문에는 과거 사건을 생생하게 전달하는 것 외에 특별한 전략이 나타나지 않았다.
제5장에서는 분석한 장르별 간접인용 표현의 사용 양상과 의사소통 전략을 바탕으로 장르분석의 함의를 제시하였다. 간접인용 표현의 인용표지는 구어성을 지녀 비격식적인 담화일수록 ‘-다고’보다는 ‘-대요’의 형태로 나타났다. 또한 정보를 객관적으로 전달하는 것이 주요 목적인 담화 장르일수록 발화인용과 타인인용이 빈번하게 나타난 반면 자신의 생각을 논리적으로 제시하는 것이 주요 목적인 담화 장르에는 생각인용과 자기인용이 빈번하게 나타났다. 그리고 각 장르에서 논의된 간접인용 표현의 의사소통 전략을 종합하면 간접인용 표현의 의사소통 전략은 ‘화제를 조심스럽게 도입하기, 화제를 객관적으로 제시하기, 타인의 발화 혹은 생각을 환언하여 강조하기, 자신의 생각을 조심스럽게 제시하기, 과거 사건을 생생하게 전달하기’로 나타났다.
제6장에서는 본 연구의 결론을 제시하여 간접인용 표현의 장르별 특성을 제시하였다. 한국어교육에서 학습자가 간접인용 표현을 사용하는 한국어 화자의 동기를 이해하고 적절하게 사용할 수 있도록 교육하기 위해서는 간접인용 표현의 장르별 특성을 제시하여 간접인용 표현의 맥락적 지식을 함께 교육하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
