The components of classroom space pursuing future school are variable due to the change factors of learning path as well as the future education system generated through the altered situation of education and have faced transformation to a convergent form. On account of the future learning path that is creative and communicative, demand for systematic and analytic research is getting higher, and the future learning path is evolving to self-directed creative education customized for each individual student and built as a new space system.
The purpose of this study includes coping with the fundamental demand for the future learning path, analyzing classroom planes the most influential among the change factors and relationship with affiliated community support space, and selecting the basic frame for it.
This study aims to figure out the characteristics of classroom space to cope with the ultimate demand for the future classroom, compare and consider differences in research and implementation between Korea and other nations to set up the criteria for use, provide foundational material needed for research on classroom planes and architectural utility, and establish architecture processes playing roles as a guideline in planning as well as data that can be constantly used as references in each step.
About research methods, Chapter 1 as the introduction clarifies the background and purpose of this study and describes study methods and ranges to analyze and consider the future classroom.
Chapter 2 attempts to analyze the prospects and elements of space change factors according to the transformation of the learning path, investigate the space characteristics of future school and advanced cases in Korean and overseas, consider classroom space theoretically, and figure out the phenomenological situation.
Chapter 3 is going to present the criteria and directions of research analysis, conduct case study in accordance with the study model and practice model of classroom space, and figure out the change factors of classroom space according to the transformation of the learning path based on that. Also, this researcher conducts investigation and examination for comparison so as to figure out the characteristics of classroom space, analyzes the change factors and aspects of classroom space at future school, and considers connectivity in affiliated future school classroom space as well as formative characteristics and how to combine them for better use.
Chapter 4 as the findings of this study summarizes research contents and characteristics about future school classroom space and suggests how to apply future school classroom space and affiliated space to be built in the future.
Because in future school, the learning path varies and learning space also changes according to the demand for self-directed learning, it is needed to utilize classroom planes and affiliated space correspondingly to that and also extend learning community space. Since the study model for future school is at the research step and still remains ideal, it is equipped with a higher degree of coupling to community space or higher utility of affiliated learning support space than the practical model; therefore, practically, it is needed to employ eclectic use, and it is being built in the state lacking the reflection.
Concerning transformation of the future school classroom, rather than the space system, size, or form of the classroom itself, the type of lecturing or the use of the classroom determines connectivity to affiliated space or community space or the range of utility. By analyzing the characteristics of the future classroom, major factors and directivity for more effective composition have been drawn, and in conclusion, it will be necessary to adopt the medium-scale, square, group learning, and affiliated community support space and enhance connectivity between the classroom and affiliated space, and the types of classroom plan are being selected to be a lecture-oriented or leading classroom.
Both Korean and overseas research models are being promoted to improve autonomous learning effects centering around creative learning as well as the community, and Korea’s realization model has different pursuit in establishing the e-learning system based on the IT system, so the results will seem to differ afterwards.
About the future classroom, taking community future education behavior as a nuclear part, it is needed to anticipate the point of change or pursuit with affiliated community space, and follow-up discussion and research should be done constantly afterwards on this. Lastly, this study has drawn its implications that it is necessary to consider how education would change through the study model concerning the composition of future classroom planes and reduction in the number of students per class, use the space practically, and also predict and reflect the factors of instructors’ conversion of awareness more accurately.
