Japyeong Myeong Confucianism is a type of Chumyeonghak that plays the
role of compass that shows the good direction for men to proceed at many a
crossroads as well as enables prediction of good and bad things in life.
The researcher examined the technique to foretell the proper moment of
marriage of a person based on Japyeong Myeong Confucianism. Marriage in
Myeong Confucianism means mental and physical union between male and
female beyond the legal matter.
The number of men and women who serve but one spouse is gradually
decreasing due to the change of consciousness from the flow of age, the
women who acquire economic power entering the society, the opening of
sexual consciousness and the prevailing individualism and selfishness. In
many cases, such social phenomena made both male and female think of
marriage not as an indispensable, but as an optional. Nevertheless the
marriage, the optional, is still a very important matter as much as to set a
new milestone in the life of a person.
The researcher divided basic theory related to the moment of marriage
into Sipseongnon, Gungwiron and Johapnon to analyze the theme deeply. Also
investigated were theories related to the moment of marriage from classical
Myeong Confucianism book and modern Myeong Confucianism book. The
analysis of the moment of marriage based on Myeong Confucianism book
theory in Myeong Confucianism Book book was applied to practical cases. In
case of male, from the viewpoint of Sipsinnon, as for Daeun, both of
Cheongan and Jiji were Gwanseongun, and as for Yunyeon, Cheongan was
Jaeseongun while Jiji was Bigeobun. In case of female, as for Daeun,
Cheongan was Bigeobun while Jiji was Siksangun, and as for Yunyeon,
Cheongan was Bigeobun and Jaeseongun while Jiji was Siksangun.
The result showed that in case of both male and female, out of Daeun
that brings the Jasigun and Un in Yunyeon, the moment of marriage might be
presumed when Iljugung, Sijugung and Jijihap are combined. It suggested that
the opening of perception of sex and the women who acquire economic
power entering the society enabled free love, but it is still difficult for a
woman to bring up children without putative marriage or legal marriage in
Korea. Korean people who are conscious of being watched try to maintain
any kind of marriage in bringing up children. Different from the past, the
diversified human relationships, the opening of conception of sex and the
individual tendency of modern people make it difficult to forecast an exact
moment of marriage. However, the researcher expects this study will make
not a little contribution to finding out the moment of marriage in terms of
Japyeong Myeong Confucianism.
