This study aimed at first close comprehension of opinion of students through survey on recognition of good classes among school sports clubs middle school students participate in, and second, through IPA method, recognition of empirical significance of students’ feeling about school sports clubs that they participate in and examination of factors they think important and are satisfied with. Through this, the present paper tried to make a proposal for viable operation of school sports clubs.
In order to achieve this objective, samples were taken by using convenience sampling method among non-probability sampling methods, and 389 data were used as the final valid samples for this study except 11 data with missing items or insincere responses. Questionnaire for a previous study was modified and complemented to be used as research tool for this survey. As for the survey procedure, the researcher explained the purpose and intent to physical education teacher of each school in charge of school sports clubs beforehand, obtained permission from them, and visited the school in person to distribute questionnaires to those questioned. And the researcher asked them to fill up the questionnaires by using self-administrated method and promptly collected the questionnaires on the spot. Method of analysis of the data surveyed included the level of importance and the level of satisfaction about good classes among school sports clubs according to hypothesis testing already established. The results of frequency analysis, independent t-test, paired t-test, exploratory factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, IPA analysis by using SPSS 20.0 are as follows:
First, in differences in the level of importance of good classes of school sports clubs according to demographic characteristics, there were significant differences in sex, grade, period of participation, and number of events students participate.
Second, in differences in level of satisfaction about good classes among school sports clubs according to demographic characteristics, there were significant differences in grade, teacher in charge, and number of events students participate.
Third, result of matrix analysis of the factors of level of importance and level of satisfaction about good classes among school sports clubs, 7 characteristics of ‘teaching method that provides options’, ‘education contents that enhance ability to think’, ‘teaching method with activities that encourage participation’, ‘education contents that consider the aspect of fun’, ‘teaching method that explains key contents easily’, ‘comprehensive evaluation of motor function and emotion’, and ‘education contents that focus on understanding overall context’ took quadrant I of high level of importance and high level of satisfaction. 4 characteristics of ‘class environment that provides equal and fair opportunity for activity’, ‘educational environment equipped with good sport facilities’, ‘class atmosphere that is autonomous and voluntary’, and ‘class atmosphere that arouses interest’ took quadrant II of high level of importance and low level of satisfaction. And 5 characteristics of ‘demonstration by instructor and diverse teaching methods’, ‘class atmosphere that allows systematic learning’, ‘student assessment with fairness, objectivity, and credibility’ took quadrant III of low level of importance and low level of satisfaction.
Lastly, 3 characteristics of ‘class environment with trust and respect between instructor and student’, ‘education contents hat enable acquisition of knowledge’, and ‘class that implements absolute evaluation taking degree of improvement into consideration’ took quadrant IV of low level of importance and high level of satisfaction.
