정신지체 특수학교 전공과 운영 실태 및 개선방안=

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the status of the management of post-secondary education program and to explore the improvements in special schools for mentally retarded students.
To achieve the aim, are those subjects chosen.
First, this study is aimed to find out the status of the management of post-secondary education program in special schools for mentally retarded students.
Second, this study is aimed to find out the improvements of post-secondary education program in special schools for mentally retarded students.
The subjects of research were 113 teachers who worked in secondary special schools for mentally retarded students in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam. The survey used in this research was revised and complemented by the experts of special education after preceding study.
For the research, Chi-square distribution, t-test, and f-test were calculated to figure out the differences among each teacher’s opinion. They were based on the average and the standard deviation of each statement.
From this study the results are as follows.
First, the number of students in each classroom was from 7 to nine on average. Two teachers in charge of vocation and other subject co-teach them for one class. The content of education is focused on practicum in hands-on fields, job skills, and abilities of social adjustment. The test of vocational ability is done for finding a job.
Second, the improvements were one term of teaching should be 2 years and the number of students in each classroom need to be less than 9. Also, national curriculum by the Ministry of Education(MOE) is necessary. Besides, the content needs to change to acquire actual job skills. To do this, respondents suggested students have practicum at least 5 hours per one week in hands-on fields. Furthermore, they insisted the most serious problem to be resolved immediately is the development of job training programs based on the hands-on fields.
In conclusion, for effective management of the post-secondary education program in special schools for mentally retarded students, the national curriculum by the MOE needs to be suggested with the definite management guideline and models. Also, the curriculum based on the practicum in hands-on fields should be made and managed for the students to acquire the job skills related to the real industrial fields. Finally, the systematic industrial-educational cooperation is necessary to improve and maintain the employment.
