(Abstract)
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the Break Down the Career Barriers Program(BDCBP) on the perceived career barriers and career self-efficacy enhancement of high school girl students.
The hypothesis of this study were as follows:
First, the BDCBP will contribute to decrease career barriers on perceived career barriers of high school girl students.
Second, the BDCBP will contribute to decrease 7 sub-factors of career barriers consist of lack of self-apprehension, lack of self-confidence, sex-role conflict and sex discrimination, disapproval by significant others, uncertainly about future, lack of career-related information and lack of financial support.
Third, the BDCBP will contribute to improve career self-efficacy of the high school girl student.
Fourth, the BDCBP will contribute tp improve 3 sub-factors of career self-efficacy consist of career research, career decision making and career performance.
This is study was composed of 22 D high school girl students in B-gu, U Metropolitan City, Korea (experimental group 11, control group 11). 22 students who wanted to participate in th program were placed in experimental group and control group. This Program for Break Down the Career Barriers was carried out with only the experimental group one time a week for 10 sessions and each session was taken 90~100 minutes.
The effect of Break Down the Career Barriers program was measured Career Barriers Scale for Female Adolescents' that was made by a Hwang, Mae-Hyang , Lee, Eun-Sul, Yoo, Sung-Kyung in 2005 and Career Self-Efficacy Scale that was made by Park, Myung-Sim and Kim, Seong-Hoi in 2006 for measuring career barriers and self-efficacy.
In data analysis, based on pre-test, post-test, follow up-test, Split-Plot Factorial Design and all of the date was analysed by SPSS 15.0 for Windows. The Statistically significant level for hypothetical verification was set at .05.
The summary of this study is as follows:
First, the BDCBP is effective to decrease career barriers of the high school students.
second, the BDCBP is effective to decrease 7 sub-factors of career barriers consist of lack self-apprehension lack of self-confidence, sex-role conflict and sex discrimination, disapproval by significant others, uncertainly about future, lack of career-related information and lack of financial support.
third, the BDCBP is effective to increase career self-efficacy of the high school girl students.
fourth, the BDCBP is effective to increase 3 sub-factors of career self-efficacy of the high school girl students.
So it is considered that the Break Down the Career Barriers Program needs to have more effective materials and more precise experiment, and that, also presents the need to make up the program for decrease of career barriers and improvement of career self-efficacy.
