The goal of this study is to examine and establish the relationships between the women athletes’ self-management and confidence and their athletic performance. To achieve this goal, I visited the teams myself that participated in 2012 Korea Gymnastic Association held ‘the 37-th KBS Cup gymnastic competition’, 2012 University competition for the general championship, the 93rd National athletic conventionand extracted the samples using the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method. Among the 241 survey participants, 25 were judged to have answered insincerely and duly subtracted from the data, leaving 216 actuallyused in the analysis. The encoded data was processed according to the study purpose, using the Windows SPSS/PC 15.0 Version statistics program. For the statistics method, one-way analysis of variance, standard multiple regression analysis, and path analysis were used.
With the research methods and the procedures described above, after analyzing the relationships between the women athletes’ self-management and confidence and their athletic performance, I drew the following results:
First, self-management, confidence, and athletic performance per population statistics characteristics factor showed differences in their affiliation, prize-winning career, athletic career, and their introduction ages.
Second, in examining the women athletes’ confidence levels per self-management, the interpersonal relationship management and the mind management turned out togive main influence on the performance ability, body/mind, coaches’ leadership, and social support body managementgives secondary influence on the performance ability, body/mind, coaches’ leadership, and social support training management gives prime influence on the performance ability and on the social support , and secondary influence on body/mind and on the coaches’ leadership.
Third, in examining the women athletes’ self-management and athletic performance in their relationship, the mind management mainly influences on the athletic performance, and interpersonal management, the body management, and the training management give secondary influence on the athletic performance.
Fourth, in examining the women athletes’ confidence and athletic performance in their relationship, the body/mind and the coach’s leadership mainly influence on the athletic performance the performance ability and the social support do not give secondary influence on the athletic performance.
Fifth, in examining the women athletes’ self-management and confidence and their influence on athletic performance, self-management as an independent factor influences more when it draws indirect effect through medium factor ‘confidence’ than when it directly influences on the dependent variable ‘athletic performance.’
