Purpose of this study is to research instruction types of dance instructors, to improve reliability of students on instructors, and increase the effectiveness of dance instruction through selecting and suggesting effective types of instruction by identifying the effects of instruction type of dance instructors perceived by dance major students in arts high school on reliability and instruction effectiveness.
For this, 1~3 grade dance major students who are enrolled in high school arts were selected as the population. One of the non-probability sampling, the convenience sampling, was used for sampling, selected 5 high schools of arts located in Seoul, Gyunggido, and Choongchungnamdo, and visited the schools and collected 446 questionnaires. Total 432 questionnaires, excluding 14 questionnaires with undependable answers, were used on final analysis. For data processing to verify research problems, factorial analysis, Independent Sample t-Test, one-way ANOVA analysis, pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were conducted using SPSS WIN 18.0 program.
The result obtained through this research purpose, method, and analysis are as follow.
First, the teaching types of dance teachers according to individual characteristics, trust in instructors, and instruction efficiency. For the difference according to the gender, whereas the male students showed higher reliability on consistency of dance instructors than female students, different grades did not show difference in every variable. For the difference according to the major, it was identified that ballet major students perceived the instruction type of dance instructors as the authoritative type than students who are majoring in modern dance and Korean dance. For the difference according to the dance career, students with less than a year of dance career showed higher reliability on sincerity of dance instructors than students with 5~15 years of dance career, and students with 1~3 years of dance career had higher reliability on the ability of dance instructors than students with 10~15 years of dance career. Also, students with less than a year of dance career had greater reliability on the consistency of dance instructors than students with 5~15 years of dance career, students with 1~3 years than students with 10~15 years, and students with 1~5 years showed greater reliability on the consistency of dance instructors than students with 10~15 years of dance career.
Secondly, the teaching type of dance instructors affects trust in instructors. First, the democratic type makes positive effect on every sub factors of trust in instructors as sincerity, ability, altruism, consistency, and openness, the authoritarian type makes negative effect on altruism and consistent trust, and the noninterference type makes negative influence on sincerity, ability and opened confidence.
Thirdly, it was identified that the instruction type of dance teachers affect the instructing effectiveness. First, the democratic type makes positive influence on the perceived function performance and satisfaction on the perceived instruction, and the noninterference type makes negative influence on the improvement of perceived function performance.
Fourthly, it was identified that trust in dance teachers make influence on the teaching efficiency. The sub factors of trust in instructors, sincerity, ability, altruism, and opened confidence positively affect perceived improvement of the function performance and perceived satisfaction on the instruction.
Through this result, it was verified that the instruction type of dance teachers in high school of arts make effect in trust in instructors and teaching efficiency, and students' trust in instructors also make influence on the teaching efficiency. In other words, dance instructors need to recognized that the instruction type, trust in instructors, and instruction efficiency are closely related to each other to prevent from dogmatically operating classes by insisting their opinions when instructing dance major students or refrain them from leaving students alone for them to behave as they wish. If instructors teach students carefully based on active interactions in a harmonious class atmosphere, it is considered that trust in instructors can be improved and teaching efficiency can be increased.
