국내외 항공노선별 여객수송량 변화추이와 결정요인에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 국내외 항공노선별 여객수송량 변화와 결정요인에 관하여 분석하였다. 인천국제공항의 개항연도인 2001년 이듬해인 2002년부터 10년간의 국내 항공노선별 여객수송량의 변화추이는 2004년 고속철도(KTX)의 개통으로 인해 계속적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 국가간 여객수송량의 변화는 반대로 증가하였다. 이는 국민소득의 증가와 무역량의 증가 등으로 국가간 교류가 많아진 것과 관계가 있을 것으로 판단하였다.
이러한 결과를 토대로 2002년 이후 10년간 여객수송량의 결정요인을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위해 10년간 국내외 노선별 항공여객수송량 자료를 이용하였으며, 항공여객수송량 결정요인의 분석은 패널회귀분석 방법을 이용하였다. 먼저 국내노선의 여객수송량 결정요인 분석은 내륙공항간 여객수송량과 제주국제공항을 이용하는 여객수송량의 결정요인을 구분하여 실시하였다. 제주국제공항은 내륙공항간 통행과는 달리 대체 육상교통수단의 부재로 결정요인 또한 다를 것으로 판단하였기 때문이다. 국내 내륙공항간 여객수송량의 결정요인 분석결과 출발지와 목적지의 인구, 항공통행시간에 대한 철도통행시간의 비율, 지역간 철도통행량이 항공여객수송량에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 제주국제공항의 여객수송량은 출발지와 목적지의 인구가 영향력이 있는 변수로 채택되었다.
마지막으로, 국가간 여객수송량의 변화추이와 결정요인에 관한 분석은 우리나라와 통행량이 많은 상위 20개 국가를 선정하여 분석한 결과 출발지와 목적지의 GDP와 무역액이 종속변수인 연간 국가간 여객수송량에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 아울러 본 연구에서는 이러한 노선별 여객수송량의 결정요인을 분석한 결과를 토대로 공항운영 및 수요예측 방법에 관한 시사점을 도출하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper analyzes yearly variation of the air passenger travel volume for domestic and international network connecting major airports in Korea. Using aggregated statistical data, yearly variation of the air passenger travel is analyzed.
The paper includes some descriptive statistical analyses on panel data for domestic network connecting major airports and international network in top 20 countries with high traffic volumes. The analysis is conducted on the period between the year 2002 and 2011.
Furthermore, some direct air travel demand models are developed for finding factors affecting air passenger travel volume of each domestic routes connecting major airports and international routes. In this study, various attempt are made to develop several models for the air travel demand with different combinations of explanatory variables utilizing stepwise panel regression technique. The model with the two variables(the sum of origin population and destination population, train time / air time) is found to be the most appropriate model to represent the domestic route air travel volume. The model with the two variables(origin population, destination population) is found to be the most appropriate model to represent air travel volume of routes connecting the Jeju international airport. The model with the two variables(the sum of origin gdp and destination gdp) is found to be the most appropriate model to represent the international route air travel volume. Finally, some analytical results are summarized, and policy implications are discussed.
