중학생이 지각한 부모지지와 학업성취관계에서 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 중학생이 지각한 부모지지와 학업성취 및 진로결정 자기효능감과의 관계를 살펴보고, 부모지지가 중학생의 학업성취 및 진로결정 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것으로 학업성취 향상을 위해 부모지지를 통한 진로결정 효능감의 증진이 중요함을 검증하기 위해 진행되었다. 또한 부모지지와 학업성취의 관계에서 진로결정 자기효능감이 매개변인으로 유의미한 역할을 하는지 알아보고자 하였다.
이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
첫째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지, 진로결정 자기효능감, 학업성취 사이에 어떤 관계가 있는가?
둘째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지는 진로결정 자기효능감과 학업성취에 유의미한 영향을 미치는가?
셋째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지와 학업성취와의 관계에서 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개 효과가 있는가?
본 연구의 대상은 중학교 1학년 학생으로 서울 소재 4개의 중학교 599명(남 335명, 여 264명)이다. 특히 지역과 배경변인의 다양성을 고려하여 서울특별시 강동·강서·강남·강북구 1개 학교씩을 선정하였다. 설문은 부모지지검사지, 진로결정 자기효능감검사지로 구성하였으며, 학업성취는 표집대상 중학생의 진단평가(국어, 수학, 영어) 성적을 사용하였다. 연구결과 분석은 SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) 18.0을 사용하여 기술통계분석, 상관관계분석, 회귀분석이 사용되었다.
본 연구에서 얻은 주요 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지, 진로결정 자기효능감, 학업성취 간의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 부모지지는 진로결정 자기효능감과 유의미한 정적상관으로 나타났으며, 학업성취와도 유의미한 정적상관을 나타냈다. 즉, 부모지지가 높을수록 진로결정 자기효능감과 학업성취가 높아진다고 볼 수 있다.
둘째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지가 진로결정 자기효능감 및 학업성취에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 부모지지는 진로결정 자기효능감에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 그리고, 부모지지 하위요인 중 진로관련 모델링, 정서적지지, 도구적 조력, 언어적 격려 순으로 진로결정 자기효능감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모지지는 학업성취에도 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 부모지지 하위요인 중 언어적 격려만이 학업성취에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 도구적 조력은 유의미한 부적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 나아가 진로결정 자기효능감도 학업성취에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 중학생이 지각한 부모지지와 학업성취 관계에서 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 회귀 분석 결과, 진로결정 자기효능감은 부모지지와 학업성취 관계에서 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 진로결정 자기효능감은 부모지지하위요인과 학업성취의 하위요인인 국어, 수학 성적과도 완전 매개 하는 것으로 나타났다.
이러한 연구 결과는 중학생들의 학업성취를 극대화하기 위해서는 부모의 적절한 지지는 물론 학생 자신이 진로결정에 대한 효능감을 가져야 함을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of career decision-making self-efficacy on the relationship between parental support and academic achievements among middle school students. The study proceeded to prove the importance of enhancing career decision-making self-efficacy with positive parental support. It also aimed to prove whether career decision-making self-efficacy plays a crucial role as a parameter on the relationship between parental support and academic achievements.
The main research topics are as follows.
First, what is the correlation among parental support, career decision-making self-efficacy, and academic achievements?
Second, is the perceived parental support a significant factor for academic achievements?
Third, does the relationship between parental support and academic achievements among middle school students have mediating effects?
The survey participants consisted of 599(335 male, 264 female) students from first grade of four middle schools in Seoul. Considering regional variation, schools were chosen from different districts: Gangdong, Gangseo, Gangnam, and Gangbuk. The survey included parent surveys and career decision-making self-efficacy surveys, and academic achievements were measured by diagnostic tests of Korean, English, and math. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 program, Pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and three-step mediated regression analysis.
The major results obtained through this study are as follows.
First, the study suggests that there is a significant positive correlation between parental support and career decision-making self-efficacy. In addition, parental support and academic achievements have a positive correlation. In other words, the more parents support their children, the more career decision-making self-efficacy the children have and the higher academic achievement they make.
Second, parental support positively influences career decision-making self-efficacy. To be more specific, among the sub-factors of parental support, career modelling, emotional support, instrumental help, and verbal encouragement, in that order, have a positive correlation with career decision-making self-efficacy. Parental support also affects academic achievements. Verbal encouragement among the sub-factors of parental support has a positive influence on academic achievements, while instrumental help negatively affects on academic learning.
Third, as a result of three-step mediated regression analysis, career decision-making self-efficacy completely serves as a parameter between academic achievements and parental support.
The research findings suggest that not only proper parental support but also career decision-making self-efficacy is necessary to maximize academic achievements.
