This study aims at comparing and evaluating exploration tendencies on middle school's technology section of Technology · Home Economics 1 textbooks applied from 2013 according to 2009 revised curriculum. The study did a quantitative analysis on textbooks through section analysis, chapter system, and content analysis, and analyzed 11 kind textbooks quantitatively by using Romey's analytical method.
In relation with research results: First, classifications of chapters and middle sections in 11 kind textbooks have been suggested equally and uniformly, but there were differences in sub-chapter and detailed learning contents by textbooks, and worries on students' understanding could not but being denied because their focusing parts were unequal. Second, as the result of analyzing exploration tendencies based on Romey technique, text analysis rating index (T) on the text appeared non-exploratory from all textbooks. figure and diagram analysis (FD), and activities index (AI) that were remaining items after rating the question at the end (Q) on questions also showed non-exploratory tendencies totally.
Textbook's outputs to which educational processes are implemented shall be connected to them closely. It is expected that preparing for textbooks in which the technology section can be grown up as the curriculum of being able to foster student-leading classes, exploration-orienting contents, thinking power, and creativeness is required based on textbooks.
