A person becomes a member of family right after being born. Family is a social group that a person meets first after being born. Through family, a person is offered the foundation of personality development available for proceeding with making a life. What has the great influence upon an individual's initial personality development is relationship with parents of origin. If relationship with parents of origin is insecure, a basic confidence in the world may be short. This may bring about instable emotional status and interpersonal-relation conflict. This study considered that the relationship of attachment to parents of origin, which is experienced by a child, has influence upon family relationship after becoming an adult. It established a hypothesis as saying that this causality can be regulated by spiritual well-being. Also, the aim was to show that the spiritual well-being and family relationship after becoming adult have positive correlation. If the spiritual well-being is verified to be a variable of having influence upon adult's current family relationship, it will be important research result as saying of being able to be made a family relationship therapy through a program of promoting spiritual well-being at church.
This study was a research survey on whether the spiritual well-being regulates the influence in the relationship of attachment to parents of origin targeting churchgoers upon the current family relationship after becoming adult. Also, it examined about correlation between spiritual well-being and current family relationship. First of all, it surveyed respondents' socio-demographic characteristics and analyzed current family relationship, relationship with parents of origin, and spiritual well-being according to it. Next, it surveyed the correlation between the relationship with parents of origin and the current family relationship and the correlation between the spiritual well-being and the current family relationship. Finally, it analyzed whether the spiritual well-being can regulate influence in relationship with parents of origin upon current family relationship.
As a result of this study, the relationship of attachment to parents of origin was indicated to have influence upon adult's current family relationship. Also, it could be known that women's relationship with father of origin was lower than men and that the lengthier in marital life period leads mostly to the lower attachment to mother and father of origin.
As a result of analyzing influence of spiritual well-being upon family relationship, it was indicated to have positive influence upon emotional intimacy factor among sub-factors of family relationship. However, the spiritual well-being was indicated to have negative influence upon imperfect attachment-recognized responsibility factor to family relationship. However, as for acceptance respect factor among sub-factors of family relationship, the spiritual well-being was indicated not to have significant influence. Through this, it can be known that the promotion in spiritual well-being has influence upon promotion in family relationship at home and has effect especially on violence use and communication interruption among family members.
Next, as a result of analyzing moderating effect of spiritual well-being on correlation between attachment to parents of origin and current family relationship, it was indicated to have moderating effect. This study established this as moderating variable with paying attention to spiritual well-being as alternative attachment experience of insecure attachment to parents during childhood, but didn't analyze a part on existential and religious sub-variables.
Implications on this study are as follows. If the relationship with parents and family in period of growth can be indicated by being projected on spouse and child in marital relationship, the projection on parents can be shown even in relationship with God. Likewise, given being re-projected positively on human relation through relationship with God, the biblical therapeutic approach is meant to be possible. Spiritual well-being was confirmed the positive influence upon adult's current family relationship as a role of service, which is offered at church. Hence, a case study is considered to be necessary in the future, which has significantly positive influence specifically upon relationship with spouse, relationship with child, and further diverse relationships in society.
