This dissertation has its own purpose of investigating the realities about non-commissioned officers’ job satisfaction, analyzing the facts whether the motivation, participation, and trust between members actually affect work accomplishment, and providing a policy to improve job satisfaction.
To analyze the actual condition for now, I selected literatures describing about the results from previous studies, experiences of serving this country as a member of Republic of Korea Army for 30years, and advices from people those who experienced.
There have been many studies targeting on a field officer or a commissioned officer until now and few studies focusing on non-commissioned officers which are defined as middle class. What is more worse is that even few studies about non-commissioned officers only focused on pay, the age limit, and promotion, not on development of non-commissioned officers’ organization.
This dissertation accordingly has the emphasis on establishment of national defense innovation 2030, enlarged duties for non-commissioned officers in 21st century, the thoughts about the future non-commissioned officers’ job satisfaction according to the change of leadership, and increase trust between members.
An independent variable is the motivation, and a dependent variable is job satisfaction.
I set this hypothesis described below to find the relationship between variables about the meaning. The motivation, participation, and trust between members affect job satisfaction.
For this dissertation, there was a research on 500 applicants who are currently serving the country as non-commissioned officers with varieties of educational background, class, branch, and position.
According to the statistical analysis, various methods listed below were applied. A frequency to analyze each factor for technical analysis, a statistical combination for social study, analysis for the main component, T-test and varimax for the examples’ difference, an analysis of trust and suitability for verifying questionnaire’s consistency, an analysis of relationship between each factors, and a regression analysis to find a level of affect on the factors. After these analytic methods were applied, the analysis of trust and suitability, and variable study were made as a measuring value. The result of this study can be declared as below.
First, after examining the awareness of non-commissioned officers’ job satisfaction according to the demographic specific, there was no cognitive difference according to the educational background and class, but there was an awareness difference according to the branch and duty.
Second, job by itself, responsibility, growth and development positively(+) affect job satisfaction in order of listed ahead. A study found the fact that the higher your job by itself, responsibility, growth and development are, the higher your job satisfaction is.
Third, a cooperation and awareness of co-workers’ sensitivity have the positive(+) affect on job satisfaction from analyzing the influence of participation on satisfaction. This, as well, found the fact that the higher your cooperation with co-workers and awareness of co-workers’ sensitivity are, the higher your job satisfaction is.
After gathering all the results, the fact that “individual facts such as branch and duty can affect job satisfaction, and if the motivation, participation and trust between members are enlarged, job satisfaction also can be enlarged” was proven.
Therefore, this study reveals the fact that the motivation, participation, and trust affect job satisfaction. We all wish for stronger and better Army in 21st century.
So we absolutely need some effort to make a creative and progressive military culture. and then we can expect important and central role from non-commissioned officers.
And they will realize and be called as “the best experts”.
