The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of adolescent's parental attachment, ego resilience, which could be psychological adaptability or potential protective factors on their subjective well-being, which referred to finding oneself to be happy in an effort to step up their development to improve their subjective well-being.
The subjects in this study were 579 high school students from five different provinces in Korea who were analysed statistically by means of questionnaires. An instrument which used to evaluate their parental attachment was developed by Yoo Seong Gyeong, Park Seung Ri, Hwang Mae Hyang's K-IPA (2010). Based on Armsden and Greenberg's IPPA (1987), it was validated on elementary, middle and high school students in Korea. Another version of ego resilience developed by Joo So Young & Lee Yang Hee(2011) was also used. The third instrument, "A Concise Measure of Subjective Well-Being: COMOSWB" (adapted 2011 version), was developed by Seo Bun Gook and Goo Jae Sun. In analyzing data, this study employed statistical terms and methods such as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, Cronbach's alpha, confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) and the structural equation model(SEM), SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 8.0 program. In clarifying the significance of mediating effect, the Sobel’s test was used.
The result of structural equation modeling supported the conclusion that ego resilience was partial mediators in the relationship between parents attachment and subjective well-being. On the basis of the results of the current study, the implications and limitations for the future were discussed.
