Recently, the suicide has become a serious problem in our society. Statistics Korea announced that the suicide is the leading cause of mortality in their 20s (Korean young people), and the suicide rate among university(college) students is rapidly increasing. Despite considerable factors influencing suicidal ideation of university(college) students, only a few studies related in young people were published. To reduce the suicide rate of them, it's necessary to know the factors influencing suicidal ideation of university(college) students. The purpose of this study is to analyze factors could have much effect on suicidal ideation of university(college) students. By use of analysis, suicide prevention policy for university(college) students can be suggested.

Fifth, are the variables on exposure to suicidal circumstances having influence on suicidal ideation of university (college) students’? Sixth, what are the factors that have much influence in suicidal ideation of university (college) students?
Earlier studies and relevant literatures were referenced, and a survey was conducted to serve the purpose. The survey, surveyed 547 male and female students are selected by the random sampling method as the subjects in the catchment areas of four universities and two colleges located in Daegu suburbs from 21 October, 2011 to 25 November, 2011. Furthermore, there were different level in suicidal ideation by certain general characteristics: sex, school system, college, grade and the marital status of their parents. Second, it is shown that depression, hopelessness, communications within the family, stress in family relationship, satisfaction of campus life, stress in friendship, stress in teacher-pupil relations, factor under exposure to family member commit suicide circumstances and media exposure reports suicide have effects on university(college) students’ suicidal ideation. To put it concretely, the suicidal ideation was significantly high among students under a lot of factors : a higher level of depression, hopelessness, stress in family relationship, stress in friendship, stress in teacher-pupil relations, factor under exposure to family member commit suicide circumstances and media exposure reports suicide. In addition to the suicidal ideation was markedly high among students who don’t have communication with their family or don’t satisfy with their campus life. This study focused on the fact that university(college) students’ suicidal ideation can be caused by a variety of factors such as psychological variables, family environmental variables, school environmental variables and the variables on exposure to suicidal circumstances(close associates who might be friend or family commit suicide). Based on these result, there are multiple variables could affect suicidal ideation, and it is necessary to be suggested antisuicide intervention for university(college) students. Especially, social workers need to make great efforts to overwhelm by a feeling of hopelessness because the hopelessness is the major sign of university(college) students’ suicidal ideation. Finally, a proposal for implications, limitation and succeeding research of this study has been discussed.
