Abstract

Effect of Curriculum Integrated Career Program
on Elementary School Student's
Career Cognition and Interest

The purpose of this study is to develop curriculum integrated career program and to examine its effect on career cognition and interest of elementary school students. For those purposes, set the detail study goals as follows.

First, develop curriculum integrated career program for elementary school students.
Second, investigate the effect of curriculum integrated career program on career cognition for elementary school students.
Third, investigate the effect of curriculum integrated career program on career interest for elementary school students.

This study was planned for two classes of 2nd graders from ○○ Elementary School in Ok-cheon, South Korea. In this study I will verify the effect on a change of career cognition and interest after performing curriculum integrated career program on 21 classes, the preliminary and follow-up tests will be conducted same paper.

The results of this study were as follows: This study is analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 program, used t-test for the influence of curriculum integrated career program and student's career cognition and interest.

First, when looking into the change of career cognition according to curriculum integrated career program, experimental group got the high score and statistically significant changes. This study got the positive changes, as each part career cognition of Holland's model showed statistically significant changes.

Second, when looking into the change of career interest according to curriculum integrated career program, experimental group got the high score and statistically significant changes. This study got the positive changes, as each part career interest of Holland's model showed statistically significant changes.

These results imply as follows: In order to teach curriculum integrated career program, teacher should understand importance and necessity of career program. To change career cognition, interest of elementary school students in a positive way, the curriculum integrated career program should be developed for each grade's curriculum and developmental stages in varying and interesting ways.
Assuming that there is a bigger chance that students will have a positive perception on a matter after growing up if they had activities related to that since their early childhood, it is desirable to give them variable experience starting elementary school.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학생을 위한 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램을 개발하고 초등학생의 직업인지 및 흥미에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 다음과 같은 세부적인 연구 목표를 설정하였다.

첫째, 초등학생을 위한 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램을 개발한다.
둘째, 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 초등학생의 직업인지에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 한다.
셋째, 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 초등학생의 직업흥미에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 한다.

이 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 다음과 같은 영가설을 설정하였다.

연구문제 1. 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 초등학교 저학년 학생의 직업 인지에 어떤 영향을 미치는가?
가설 1 : 직업탐색 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 적용하지 않은 통제집단 간에 직업 인지의 차이는 없을 것이다.

연구문제 2. 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 초등학교 저학년 학생의 직업 흥미에 어떤 영향을 미치는가?
가설 2 : 직업탐색 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 적용하지 않은 통제집단 간에 직업 흥미의 차이는 없을 것이다.

이러한 가설을 검증하기 위하여 본 연구자는 옥천군 소재의 ○○ 초등학교 2학년 1개 반 26명을 실험집단으로, 그리고 동 학년 1개 반 28명을 통제집단으로 설정하였다. 선정된 실험집단과 통제집단의 아동들을 대상으로 Holland 모형을 근거로 분류한 다양한 직업에 대한 직업인지 및 직업흥미를 알아보는 사전검사를 실시하여 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없음을 확인하고 실험집단에게 2011년 4월 1일부터 7월 20일까지 21차시에 걸쳐 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램을 실시하였다. 활동학습지와 교수-학습지도안을 활용하며 간접 체험과 관련 체험활동을 포함한 수업으로 진행하였다.
실험이 끝난 직후 직업인지 및 직업흥미에 대한 사후검사를 실시하였다. 검사 도구는 직업탐색 프로그램을 통해 학습자의 직업인지 및 직업흥미도의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 연구자가 직접 설문지를 개발하였다. 직업인지 설문지는 총 42개 직업에 대한 직업명, 하는 일, 관련 직업의 인지 정도를 묻는 직업인지 문항으로 구성하였고, 직업흥미 설문지는 42개 직업에 대한 선호도를 알아보는 문항으로 구성하였다. 반응 척도는 리커트의 3점 척도를 활용하였다. 본 연구의 자료는 SPSS WIN 12.0프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 초등학생의 직업인지 및 흥미에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 t검증을 실시하였다.

본 연구의 실험을 통하여 얻어진 결과에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다.

첫째, 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램 적용에 따른 직업인지의 차이를 보면 실험 집단의 평균이 많이 향상 되었으며 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또한, Holland의 RIASEC모형에 따른 각 영역의 직업인지 역시 유의미한 차이를 보여 이 연구가 학습자의 직업인지에 긍정적인 변화를 가져왔다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

둘째, 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램 적용에 따른 직업흥미의 차이를 보면 실험집단이 통제집단보다 점수도 높고 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 실험집단의 경우 Holland의 RIASEC모형에 따른 각 영역의 직업흥미 역시 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 통제집단의 경우 집단의 성비 특성을 반영하는 약간의 변화를 보였지만 이는 유의미한 차이는 아닌 것으로 나타났다.

이 연구 결과를 토대로 하여 후속 연구를 위해 다음과 같은 제언을 하고자 한다.
첫째, 본 연구에서 활용한 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램을 적용하기 위해서는 교사가 진로교육의 중요성과 필요성을 충분히 이해하고 있어야 한다. 초등학교, 특히 저학년에서는 진로교육의 필요성을 중요하게 인지하지 않고 있는 것이 대부분인데, 초등학교 저학년에서부터 다양한 직업 정보와 관련 체험활동을 제공하면, 연구 결과에서와 같은 긍정적인 효과를 볼 수 있을 것으로 전망된다.

둘째, 초등학생의 직업인지 및 직업흥미를 긍정적으로 변화시키기 위해 교과통합 직업탐색 프로그램이 각 학년의 교육과정 및 발달 단계에 맞게 다양하고 흥미롭게 구성, 개발이 되어야 한다.

셋째, 저학년을 위한 직업탐색 프로그램은 본 연구와 같이 관련성 있는 교과 내용을 다양한 방법으로 통합하는 방법뿐만 아니라, 저학년 학습자의 실생활과 관련 있는 내용을 선택하여 프로그램을 개발 할 수도 있다.
