Department of Justice announced that the number of foreign residents in South korea exceeded 1.2 million as of June, 2010. It has been only three years since 2007,the era of one million foreigners.
The number of foreign residents in Korea is growing rapidly and this heralds that Korea is fast turning into a multicultural society.
The increase of numbers of foreign residents in Korea which was due to the tidy of globalization and the increase of mixed-race marriages that was only fifty thousand people in 1990 has the similar tendency to the flow of international migration. According to the UN estimation of international migration, the Foreign-born population is about 214 million and that accounts for 3.1% of the world numbers 6.9 billion as of 2010. The multiculturalism that includes the meaning of the society where different values and culture are accepted is world’s universal phenomenon.
This study examines the effects on the marriage satisfactory level caused by the Marital conflicts of the multicultural family, the international marriage migrant women. In order to improve the marriage satisfactory level of the marriage migrant women, the measures have been explored by investigating how the factors in terms of the sociology of population and couple conflicts may influence the marriage satisfactory level.
The study has investigated concepts, current situation and problems of the multicultural family, concepts and factors of the Marital conflicts, concepts and factors of marriage satisfactory level, and previous studies on the Marital conflicts and the marital satisfaction level, examined couple conflicts level of migrant women, the marital satisfaction level, and the optimal factor of the Marital conflicts that affect the marital satisfaction level through the statistical analysis such as frequency analysis, average, standard deviation, the One way ANOVA, T-test and applied Stepwised the multiple Regression analysis to prove the hypothesis on the Marital conflicts that affects the marital satisfaction level of migrant women.
This study purpose is to contribute the marriage satisfaction of the couples by verifying the couple conflict factors to affect the marriage satisfactory level of migrant women and Based on the above analysis, the following proposals are recommended to reduce and solve the couple conflicts of migrant women.
First, in order for organizations and counseling centers to improve the marriage satisfaction of migrant women, the programs to over come couple conflicts are required to promote the family relationship, improve communication skill, and to enhance the health. Also the programs need the involvement of professional social workers as well as the combination of family treatment specialists for the couple counseling and family treatment.
Second, currently just a few of the human rights of marriage migrant men living with Korean women and the attention and studies on their families exist, and the family support policy is excluded as well. For multi-cultural society, diverse studies and basic data are required for involvement and supports in terms of social welfare.
Third, From this study, it can be concluded that immigrant spouses can adjust to Korean life and lead a proper household if they are given the proper physical and emotional support. To better improve their marriage life and their overall quality of living, an expansion of the social welfare system, and an integrated mentoring system which will aid in solving conflicts and problems in the immigrant spouses’ households, is much needed. From evaluating the cases, it can be said that problems in immigrant spouses’ households are due to complications of conflict and mental suffering; therefore social workers or counselors specialized in a certain country or region would be ideal in resolving their issues. Rather than dividing up the immigrant spouses’ conflicts within the bureaucracy, the government needs to receive cooperation from an NGO and send out social workers who would visit immigrant spouses regularly and act as their mentor. The aim of this integrated mentoring system would be to find a support plan that fits each individual immigrant spouse and to give them the cultural, economical, and legal support they need; thus helping them to adjust to Korean life, solve their problems independently, live in healthy families and ultimately, to become a member of the Korean society.
Fourth, the previous studies have been based on the women's study to build the basic research and approach to the migrant women with the discriminated views that the migrant women were regarded as the weak people and victims, or with the ideological trends that requested them to get accustomed to the Korean society. So the marriage migrant women have been considered as a victim of international marriage and ignored of their strategies and actions to pursue the active life. This study expects more various studies on the families and local society system to improve the quality of life by considering the position of marriage migrant women themselves.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

법무부는 2010년 6월을 기준으로 국내 체류 외국인이 120만 명을 돌파했다고 발표했다. 이는 지난 2007년 ‘외국인 100만 명 시대를 연지 3년만이다. 이처럼 급속하게 증가하는 외국인의 국내 체류는 한국의 다문화 사회로의 본격적인 진입을 예고하고 있다. 1990년대 중반 세계화의 물결과 국제결혼의 증가로 인해 약 5만 명에 불과했던 국내 체류 외국인의 증가는 세계의 이민 추이와도 그 흐름을 같이 한다. 2010년 세계 이주 인구 UN 추정치를 보면 자신의 출생지가 아닌 국가에서 거주하는 이민 인구(Foreign-born)는 2.14억 명으로 69억 세계인구의 3.1%를 점유한다고 예상했다. 이처럼 ‘다른 가치와 문화를 존중하는 다양성의 사회’라는 의미를 내포한 다문화는 세계의 보편적 현상이다.
이에 본 연구는 국제결혼 이주여성을 대상으로 다문화가족의 부부갈등이 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향이라는 주제로 인구사회학적인 요인, 부부갈등요인이 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향력을 탐색함으로써, 이주여성의 결혼만족도를 향상 시키는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다.
이러한 연구목적을 수행하기 위하여 다문화가족의 개념과 현 실태, 다문화 가족의 부부갈등 및 결혼만족도 그리고, 부부갈등과 결혼만족도에 대한 선행연구를 살펴보았고, 연구과제인 이주여성의 부부갈등 정도, 결혼만족도 정도, 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 부부갈등 결정요인 등은 빈도분석, 평균, 표준편차, 일원변량분석, t-test 등을 통하여 알아보았고 이주여성의 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 검증하기 위해 위계적인 다중회귀분석을 실시하여 살펴보았다.
본 연구는 이주여성의 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 부부갈등요인이 무엇인지를 밝혀서 이주여성의 부부갈등 요인을 줄임으로써 부부의 결혼만족에 도움을 주고자 하였으며, 연구 분석결과를 토대로 이주여성의 부부갈등을 줄이고 해결하기 위한 몇 가지 사항들을 제언을 하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 이주여성 관련 복지관이나 단체, 상담센터 등에서는 이주 여성의 결혼 만족을 향상시키기 위해서는 부부갈등 극복 프로그램 중에서 가족관계 증진 프로그램과 의사소통 향상 프로그램, 그리고 건강증진 프로그램 등이 개설되어 할 것이며 이러한 프로그램을 수행할 수 있는 전문 집단사회복지사의 개입이 이루어져야 할 것이며 동시에 이들을 위한 부부상담 및 가족치료 등이 가족치료전문가에 의해 수행되어야 할 것이다.
둘째, 한국여성과 결혼해서 살고 있는 남성결혼이민자의 인권보호와 그 가족에 대한 관심과 연구도 거의 없는 상화이며 가족지원정책도 배제되어 있다. 다문화 사회로 가기 위해서는 이들에 대한 다양한 연구도 필요하며 사회 복지적 개입과 지원을 위한 기초적 자료의 확보가 요구된다.
셋째, 본 연구과정에서 한국남성과 결혼한 이주여성들의 심층적인 고충상담을 통해 결혼이주여성들의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위해 적합한 물적․심적․정보 지원이 있다면 이들이 충분히 자주적인 가정생활과 한국적응이 가능하다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 결혼이주여성들의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위해서는 사회안전망과 사회복지 서비스의 확대가 필요하였으며, 그 구체적인 방안으로 국제 결혼한 이주여성들이 결혼생활에서 어려움을 겪게 될 때 도움을 받을 수 있는 결혼이주여성 가정의 여러 가지 갈등과 문제들을 전담 사회복지사가 처음부터 끝까지 멘토 형식으로 상담을 진행하여 갈등과 문제를 해결․조정하는 시스템이 필요하다. 사례분석을 통한 사례들을 살펴보면, 결혼이주여성 가정이 안고 있는 갈등과 고충은 한 가지만 있는 것이 아니라, 여러 가지 갈등과 고충이 사슬처럼 연관되어 있는 종합적인 원인을 갖고 있으므로 이는 결혼이주여성에 대하여 한명의 전담 전문적인 사회복지사나 상담원에 의해 고충과 갈등을 해결․조정해 나가야 하며 이러한 전담 사회복지사나 상담원은 나라별․지역별로 전담인원이 정부가 운영하는 기관이나 민간단체에 배치되어야 한다. 이에, 이주여성들이 한국생활과정에서 발생되는 문제들을 자발적으로 극복하고, 사회적응 능력을 향상하여 건강한 가정을 유지, 지역사회의 한 구성원으로서 성장할 수 있는 결혼이주여성 가족에 대한 정부기관은 결혼이주여성의 고충을 주무부처에서 나눠서 해결하는 것이 아니라 단일창구 즉 담당사회복지가 통합적으로 일정기간 동안 지원할 수 있도록 멘토가 되어 NGO와 통합적인 민관협조체제를 통해 공적․사적지원 방안을 모색하고자 한다.
넷째, 지금까지의 연구들은 기초실태조사와 이주여성에 대한 접근자체가 여성학을 필두로 결혼이주여성을 국제결혼의 희생자로 이미지화하고 고착화함으로써 오히려 결혼이주여성들이 적극적인 삶의 전략과 행위자임을 무시하는 경향에 일부 기여해온 것은 주지의 사실이다. 앞으로 결혼 이주여성들의 당사자 입장에서 본 행복한 삶의 질 향상과 관련된 가족 및 지역사회체계에 입각한 다양한 관련 연구들이 후속연구로 나와야 할 것이다.
