The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the creative music drama activities, which are appropriate on their developmental requirement and ability, on young children's creativity and social skills. This study would help to find out effective ways of conducting creative music drama activities, and also it will be able to provide basic data about the educational values of the creative music drama activities.

To achieve the purpose of the study, the experiment was conducted to the subjects of two groups. The subjects of the experimental group were 25 preschoolers, western age of 5(14 males, 11 females), who went to a kindergarten annexed to D elementary school in G city, in Gyeonggi province, and the subject of the control group were 25 preschoolers, western age of 5(13 males, 12 females), in a kindergarten annexed to U elementary school. Both groups were located near and had identical conditions in terms of social and financial environment.
In this study, young children's creativity was measured by 'Korean Comprehensive Creativity test for young children' developed by Jeon, kyoung won(2005) and social skills by 'Social Skills Rating System(SSRS)', invented by Gresham and Elliott(1990), and translated by Jung, Youn-sun. Seen from the similar pretest results which had no remarkable difference on creativity and social skills between experimental group and control group, two groups could be assumed to be the identical groups.
During a 12-week period of time, the experimental group had music drama lessons with four different fairy tales, and the comparative group did the activities that asked the children to remember the story of the fairy tales after reading them. Both groups took a posttest after the experiment to determine the effect of creative music drama activities. The test instrument for the pre- and post- test were the same, and the data of children's creativity and social skills from the test were analyzed by i-STATistics program.
The results of this study are summarized as follows;
First, after conducting creative music drama activities, there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the sub-elements of fluency, flexibility, originality, and imaginative power. Thus, it shows that creative music drama activities have positive influences on the enhancement of children's creativity.
Second, after conducting creative music drama activities, there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the field of cooperation, self-assertion, and self-control. It shows that creative music drama activities have positive influences on children's social skills.
To sum above-mentioned results up, this study illustrates that creative music drama activities have positive impacts on young children's creativity and social skills and they are very effective in enhancing children's creativity and social skills.
