The purpose of this study is to find out elementary school teacher's perception on the Leisure Activity Areas in the 2007 Revised Physical Education Curriculum and to attain an in-depth understanding of such perception. For this purpose, four elementary school teachers to teach physical education were selected as participants for a qualitative case study. Data was collected by methods of in-depth interview and documents collection, and inductive categorical system was used to correctly analyze and interpret those collected data. The results for each research topic are as follows;
1. Elementary teachers perceptions about the objective of Leisure Activity Areas.
In terms of understanding the value of leisure, through the action feel the value due to the inherent process of the new physical education curriculum it was found that the direction to pursue. And through the basic skills, curriculum when the students themselves to help you relax should provide a variety of experiences. It also can be based on a lifetime sport.
2. Elementary teachers perceptions about the contents of Leisure Activity Areas.
In value of physical activity, positive perception of the teacher acts as a positive to students. In order to have a positive perception, teachers should be aware of the curriculum changes. However the change of the curriculum is delivered only to some teachers. Changes in the delivery of the curriculum is almost done. The solution of this problem, change of physical education curriculum should be communicated to the all teacher like other subjects. In term of unify and sequence, they had recognized that duplication of learning contents has reduced. But there are many points for improvement. They had positive recognition in the selection of physical activity. But they were recognized if all teacher in elementary school had to take care of responsibilities for the operation of the reorganized curriculum, the correct selection and reconstruction will be done.
3. Elementary teachers perceptions about the teaching and learning of Leisure Activity Areas.
Interests, concerns and gap of level in Leisure Activity Areas are larger than other areas. So, a lot of support are needed such as Step-by-step guidance, secondary teachers for self-paced instruction and integrated learning. It is also a need to ensure sufficient class time. It would be nice if a creative way to present in textbooks and instructions for new wave of physical education.
4. Elementary teachers perceptions about evaluation of Leisure Activity Areas.
For the balance of the evaluation, teachers should be evaluated in a variety of ways such as psychomotor domain, affective domain and cognitive domain rather than evaluation of the student's current ability. Nevertheless leisure is part of a Physical Education, so activity should be preferred in the evaluation of Leisure Activity Areas
