The purpose of this student is to examine the stressful factors of students' troublesome behavior to the teachers and the teachers' reactions to those troublesome behaviors in the situations of elementary physical education classes.
In order to achieve the aim of the study that to verify the teachers' stresses and reactions to the students' troublesome behaviors in the elementary physical education classes, according to the demographic statistics, this study attempts to investigate the teachers' stresses to the students' behaviors in the elementary physical education classes and to analyze the teachers' reactions to the students' troublesome behaviors.
The respondents of this study is composed of the elementary teachers in Seoul as of 2011, and the samples of the respondents were extracted by the random sampling.
The number of valid samples of this study was 243, but only 201 responses were used in the final analysis excluding 42 responses that were not replied, unfaithful responded(consecutive choices of same numbers) or partially omitted(not fully responded).
The questionnaire of the study is composed of the general features of the research population, the students' troublesome behaviors that cause teachers' stresses and reactions to the stressful behaviors of students.
The responses of the study were analyzed by SPSS WIN 19.0 Version, and frequency analysis was done to examine the general features of the population, and the t-test and One-way ANOVA methods were utilized to analyze the teacher' stresses and reactions to the students' troublesome behaviors.
The analysis results and conclusions from the study are as follow;
First, the 35 questions on the students troublesome behaviors in the questionnaire were found to cause the teachers stresses, and especially the degree of the teachers' stresses recorded highest point in the personal relationship which is the sub-item of the students' troublesome behaviors related to the living attitude. And the degree of the teachers' stresses was second highest in the regulations which is the sub-item of the students' troublesome behaviors related to the living attitude.
Second, the teachers' stress to the students' troublesome behaviors in the physical education classes are significantly related to the general features of the teachers such as sex, position and the grade in charge.
The study found that according to the sex, female teachers get more stresses than male teachers. Also according to the potions, the higher the position is, the more stresses the teachers get and teachers of the middle grade in charge, the more stresses the teachers get.
Third, the teacher prefers the applicant method of management over democratic, compromise, absolutism and noninterference management techniques. The management method adopted differs significantly according to sex and teaching experience. As a result of the analysis of the management method of students' difficult behavior, it is found that female teachers prefer compromise techniques more than male teachers, that teachers with under ten-years teaching experience prefer the applicant technique of management and teachers with over twenty-year teaching experience prefer the compromise technique.
As mentioned above, most elementary school teachers feel stress in physical education classes. While engaged in physical education classes the stress from students' difficult behavior has a negative impact on teachers running of the class. As teachers and students interact directly and indirectly during class, the teacher's stress is able to have a bad effect on students physical and mental development. Although teachers feel stress relating to students difficult behavior, it is inspiring how they cope with an enthusiastic attitude such as the applicant and democratic management method. Therefore, administrative and financial support is needed to ease teachers stress. In addition, the students should respect teachers and teachers should study continuously and make efforts to keep good relationships between themselves and students and, by extension, to promote effective physical education in school.
