This study aims to comprehend the teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum based on the teachers of childcare facilities, and to examine how are the teachers configuring the literacy environment of the actual early childhood classrooms, and to comprehend the relationship between teacher's recognizing the importance and the classroom literacy environment. In this study, the standard childcare curriculum related to reading and writing to the communication field around the teacher's recognizing the importance examined. Because parents with early childhood children demand education of reading and writing continuously, and a lot of reading, writing education in early childhood classrooms is done.
The following subject for inquiry was set depending on the purpose of the study as above.
First, what does teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum have difference depending on the variables(type of workplace, whether or not there is evaluation, academic background, major, career)?
Second, what does teacher's early childhood classrooms literacy environment configuration have difference depending on the variables(type of workplace, whether or not there is evaluation, academic background, major, career)?
Third, what is the relationship between teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum and the early childhood classrooms literacy environment?
In this study, the survey was carried out based on 182 home room teachers of the childcare facility for 3 and a half year old children located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province area. As the collected materials, t-test and ANOVA were carried out depending on a subject for inquiry by using SPSS 19.0 program, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was calculated.
The outcomes of this research are as follows.
First, the teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum showed the significant difference depending on the type of workplace. The teachers working in national public childcare facilities and workplace childcare facilities showed higher teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum than the teachers working in private childcare facilities.
Second, the early childhood classrooms literacy environment configuration showed the significant difference depending on the type of workplace, whether or not there is evaluation, teacher's career. The teachers working in national public childcare facilities showed better early childhood classrooms literacy environment configuration than the teachers working in private childcare facilities and workplace childcare facilities, and the teachers who carried out the evaluation showed better early childhood classrooms literacy environment configuration than the teachers who did not carry out. In addition, the more teacher's career showed the better literacy environment configuration.
Third, as results of examining the relationship between the teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum and early childhood classrooms literacy environment, it showed the static correlation. In other words, as higher the teacher's recognizing the importance on the communication field of the standard childcare curriculum was, the better the early childhood classrooms literacy environment configuration was carried out.
