Proponents of social learning theory have highlighted the importance of vicarious learning in everyday life and how it affects and forges behavioral patterns. Effective role models are relevant, in particular, in the literature on management. Managers can affect huge influence on their employees through a process of vicarious learning and the fostering of effective behavioral outcomes is likely to be vital for the achievement of organizational goal.
Part of the cluster of behaviors associated with behavioral modeling concerns the notion that employees, under certain circumstances, will use their initiative. Such self-driven behavior might find its basis, at least to some extent, in the observations of managers. The present study aims to bring initiative, which is recognized as a social value, and positive effect into the organizational circumstance by considering these concepts through the lens of organizational behavior. Here, I suggest a new scholarly concept labeled solsunsoobum behavior. In English, solsunsoobum behavior roughly translates as behavior that is exemplary, although this definition is expanded upon below. The structure of this research is outlined as follows.
In the first section of this thesis, I reviewed the extant literature on organizational behavior including that on non-task behavior, leadership theory, and leading by example. Following this, I compared contrasted these organizational behavior concepts against the notion of solsunsoobum behavior. In the results section, it was found that non-task behavior is associated with a number of anomalies. Non-task behavior is known as a contributing factor for organizational effectiveness. But it does not clearly show its range and character. Results also suggested a link between leadership and solsunsoobum behavior. In addition, I reviewed about leading by example that have character with solsunsoobum behavior. And I could confirm that the solsunsoobum behavior is hard to be explained by any other, again.
After the above, initial research phase, solsunsoobum behavior is redefined through an exploratory study. Following this, there was a trial to develop a questionnaire that can determine solsunsoobum behavior. The definition and examples of solsunsoobum behavior in organizations was investigated by way of an in-depth interview involving 31 people, who worked at a private enterprise. The obtained data were used for content analysis. Results suggested that solsunsoobum behavior covers five different characteristics, including exemplary, initiation, spontaneity, implementation, and social influence. Solsunsoobum behavior is defined as the exemplary behavior that implements something initiatively and spontaneously.
Based on data from the exploratory phase of this study, a questionnaire-based approach was employed to provide further insights. A total of 120 participants returned surveys for analysis. Results suggested that solsunsoobum behavior is composed of concepts that differ, to some degree, from those observed in the previous phase of this. The team leader solsunsoobum behavior is only converged as ‘solsunsoobum behavior’ but the team member solsunsoobum behavior arranged with two that are ‘solsunsoobum behavior related with task’ and ‘team priority solsunsoobum behavior’. I guess, this is because the team leader’s personality and behavior that related with the task has been recognized as to be followed by the team members.
On the step of hypothesis verification, the team leader solsunsoobum behavior affects the team member solsunsoobum behavior related with task significance. This suggests that there is a social learning effect associated with solsunsoobum behavior. Moreover, moderating effects were investigated in terms of personal character, team environment, and the customary practice of human resource management in the process that team leader solsumsoobum behavior affects the team member solsumsoobum behavior. In sum, only team environment has an important influence on solsunsoobum behavior relating a team member’s task.
Solsunsoobum behavior appears to represent a positive and effective behavior pattern that incorporates social learning effects and indicates that it is possible to influence organization and enhance team performance. Also of note from this study was the finding that the improvement of team environment and the customary practice of human resource management enhances the influence of solsunsoobum behavior.
In conclusion, the present study redefines solsunsoobum behavior in the organization and provides an indication of the determinants of solsunsoobum behavior. It provides insights into the learning effects associated with solsunsoobum behavior but this study has various restrictions. For that reason, I expect the present study opens an avenue for further research on a topic that may carry implications for helping to foster an efficacious work environment.
