동요지도가 어린이의 정서지능 및 사회성에 미치는 영향 : 초등학교 4학년을 중심으로

Singing songs is the most natural pleasure that can be enjoyed by human, and also is a noble method of being able to express own feelings. So, teaching beautiful children's songs could be said as requiring certainly for managing pleasant school life and further forming good personality.
By the way, children nowadays are cheering and going crazy to pops and dance music having been made for adults. At main subjects in Korean pops, they are dealing with romantic relationships between women and men, and various aspects of feeling that have been occurred from its relations, and further emotional farewells are treated most frequently.
Children who are insufficient in judgements yet and unstable in emotions are exposed to all kinds of broadcasting media such as television, radio, and Internet etc almost defenselessly. Therefore, this study aims at giving helps to children for making singing actualized with abundant musical emotions by grasping effects of constant teaching on children's songs on their emotional intelligence and sociability.
Research matters according to its purposes are same as followings.
A. Are there effects to children's emotional intelligences from teaching children's songs?
B. Are there effects to developments of children's sociability from teaching children's songs?
C. Which effect's differences are appeared by gender to emotional intelligences and sociability from teaching children's songs?
For carrying out this research, the study made characteristics of children's musical growth developments, pitch extents according to growth stages, and lyrics by educational values of children's songs as selecting standards. This study selected total 15 songs after getting advises from specialists, and instructed children's songs by developing a teaching-learning plan after considering access activities of emotional intelligence and cooperative learning model. The study did pre-test investigation on 40 questions on emotional intelligences and sociability respectively by objecting to 90 students of the 4th grade in S Elementary School located in Seoul, and then analyzed collected data, and thus got conclusions as follows.
First, teaching of children's songs had significant effects to enhancement of children's emotional intelligences. Specially, there were significant effects from emotional recognition and expression, thought's promotions, and emotional applications. While singing children's songs, children became to have interests in emotional status having been felt by others more, and the to utilize the songs as a method of expressing oneself.
Second, teaching children's songs was insufficient in significant effects statistically for making enhancements of children's sociability. Though teaching lyrics or cooperative activities during instructing children's songs could bring up children's sociability, but it was lack in causing significant results statistically. So, forthcoming researches that look into changes of post-teachings of children's songs for more long-term period or apply it by enlarging group activities such as duet and chorus etc are judged to be necessary.
Third, in emotional recognition and expression scopes among emotional intelligence's scopes, schoolboys were more developed that schoolgirls through teaching children's songs. Though most people thought that schoolgirls liked singing children's songs a little more for the meanwhile, but a fact could be known through this research results such like singing children's songs gave helps to schoolboys too. This result could be interpreted that schoolboys got helps in accepting emotions of others, and expressing own feelings so as to be fit to situations through singing children's songs, even though pre-test results were low because they were not familiar with emotional recognitions and expressing activities ordinarily.
Though above results, a fact is confirmed that signing children's songs gives helps to emotional intelligences' developments of children. This point can explain the justification of having to sing children's songs by children. Also, this study will be helpful to teachers in teaching children's songs with sense of purposes such like children's emotional purification, not for simple repertories only.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인간에게 있어 노래를 부른다는 것은 인간이 누릴 수 있는 가장 자연스러운 즐거움이며, 자기감정을 표현할 수 있는 고귀한 방법이다. 그러므로 어린이에게 아름다운 동요를 지도하는 것은 보다 즐거운 학교생활, 더 나아가서는 보다 아름다운 인격형성을 위해 꼭 필요한 것이라 할 수 있다.
그런데 요즘 어린이들은 성인들을 위해 만든 대중가요와 댄스곡에 환호하고 열광하고 있다. 한국 대중가요의 주된 주제는 남녀 간의 애정관계, 그 관계에서 발생되는 감정의 다양한 측면을 다룬 것이며 그 중에서도 이별의 정서가 가장 빈번하게 다루어진다.
아직 판단력이 부족하고 정서적으로 안정되지 않은 어린이들이 텔레비전이나 라디오, 인터넷 등 각종 방송 매체에 거의 무방비로 노출되어 있다.
따라서 본 연구는 지속적인 동요 지도가 어린이의 정서지능과 사회성에 미치는 영향을 파악하여, 어린이가 풍부한 음악적 정서를 가지고, 노래 부르기를 생활화 하는 데에 도움을 주는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본 연구의 목적에 따른 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.
가. 동요 지도가 어린이의 정서지능 향상에 효과가 있는가?
나. 동요 지도가 어린이의 사회성 발달에 효과가 있는가?
다. 동요 지도가 정서지능과 사회성에 미치는 효과가 성별에 따라 어떻게 달라지는가?
연구를 위하여 어린이의 음악적 성장 발달의 특징과 성장 단계에 따른 음역, 동요의 교육적 가치에 따른 노랫말을 동요 선정 기준으로 하였다. 전문가의 지도 조언을 얻어 총 15곡의 지도곡을 선정하였으며, 정서지능 접근 활동과 협동학습 모형을 고려하여 교수-학습 과정안을 개발하여 동요 지도를 하였다. 서울 소재의 S초등학교 4학년 학생 90명을 대상으로 정서지능 검사지 40문항과 사회성 검사지 40문항을 사전․사후 검사를 하여 수집된 자료를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 동요 지도는 어린이의 정서지능 향상에 유의미한 효과가 있다. 특히 정서지능의 요소 중 정서인식 및 표현, 사고 촉진, 정서 활용에서 유의미한 효과가 있었다. 어린이들이 동요를 부르면서 나와 다른 사람이 느끼는 정서 상태에 보다 관심을 가지게 되었으며, 자신을 표현하는 방법 중의 하나로 동요를 많이 활용하게 되었다.
둘째, 동요 지도는 어린이의 사회성 향상에는 통계적으로 유의미한 효과가 부족하였다. 동요 지도를 하는 과정 속에서의 노랫말 지도나 협동 활동을 어린이들의 사회성을 키워줄 수 있으나, 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 가져오기에는 부족했다. 따라서 좀 더 장기적인 동요 지도 후의 변화를 살펴보는 후속연구나 중창, 합창 등 보다 단체 활동을 늘려서 적용해 보는 후속 연구가 필요하리라 생각된다.
셋째, 정서지능 영역 중 정서인식 및 표현의 영역에서 남학생이 여학생보다 동요 지도를 통해 더 발전하였다. 그동안 동요 부르기는 여학생이 좀 더 좋아하는 활동이라는 인식이 지배적이었으나, 연구 결과를 통해 남학생 역시 동요를 부르는 활동이 도움이 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 평소 남학생이 정서인식 및 표현활동을 하는 데에 익숙하지 않아서 사전 검사 결과가 낮았으나, 노래 부르기 활동을 통하여 다른 사람의 정서를 받아들이고, 상황에 맞게 자신의 감정을 표현하는 데에 도움을 얻었다고 할 수 있다.
이상의 결과는 어린이가 동요를 부르는 것이 정서지능 발달에 도움을 주는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 어린이가 동요를 불러야 하는 이유의 당위성을 설명할 수 있다. 또한 교사가 동요를 단순한 제재곡이 아닌, 어린이의 정서 순화를 위한 목적의식을 가지고 지도하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.
