At disabled children-care facilities, in order to supply nurture service successfully, expertise of teacher is needed as an important factor.
As a result, effect of disabled-child teacher’s expertise on performance will be analyzed. Furthermore, it is purposed to create a way to increase performance based on the results of this study.
For achieving this purpose, research questions were set up as following;
1) How much is disabled-child teacher’s expertise and performance?
2) Is there a valuable difference between disabled-child teacher’s expertise and performance?
3) Is there relationship between expertise and performance?
4) Does disabled-child teacher’s expertise affect performance?
5) How can disabled-child teacher’s expertise and performance be improved?
The object of this study was performed to teachers working at disabled-child-care facilities located in Ulsan. For empirical study, the researcher visited each facilities in person from 2011 Jan. 5 to 2011 Feb. 28, explained the reason of study, distributed and retrieved questionnaires. A total of 220 questionnaires were distributed and 218 retrieved(97%). Some of which with errors or 4 of those low of price as database were put aside and as a result, 214 questionnaires were used for final analysis.
1) How much is Disabled-Child Teacher’s Expertise and performance?
Expertise of teacher was the highest on social needs, social, economic status was the lowest. In performance, relationship with the children were the highest, professional knowledge and attitude was the lowest. Overall level of expertise and performance was high.
2) Is there a valuable difference between disabled-child teacher’s expertise and performance?
Valuable points were found between age and type of FacilityⅡ.
3) Is there relationship between expertise and performance?
Expertise and performance showed positive relationship. Subordinates of expertise, social, economic status did not make any valuable points. Performance and it’s relationships showed positive relationship. So, overall, relationship between expertise and performance of teachers working at disabled-child facilities showed positive relationships.
4) Does Disabled-Child Teacher’s Expertise Affect Performance?
Expertise’s effect on performance turned out to be a valuable.
5) How can Disabled-Child Teacher’s Expertise and Performance be improved?
Governmental level of support on teacher’s work condition, payment and welfare are needed to force higher performance. and high-performing teachers are expected improve the quality of child-care of disabled-child
-care facilities. And it also is important to activate facility based training by making qualification harder, re-educate skilled teachers to improve their expertise and performance. and teaching methods suitable for development, objective observation, mind-control according to situation, adoption and use of expert skills and knowledge, keeping proper psychic distance with parents and professional efforts to provide information by consulting the parents.
