This thesis focuses on systems and institutions of Song, Young's novels in the colonial period and competing tendency one another. Especially, this study interprets Song, Young's novels in 1920s and 1930s on repeating line and grasps it as the procedure of writer's recognition on social situation he encountered. Although internationalism love and places of night school, institution and school appeared in Song, Young's novels of the colonial period can be understood on repeating line, there was no study until now. Also, previous studies have considered Song, Young's novels as the result organized by reflecting fragmentarily by special materials, so it was very difficult to grasp the general significance of Song, Young's novels.
The internationalism appeared in Song, Young's novels was obtained by context of the period and innate human network in the period of "Yomgunsa". Basically, it was started by the critical consciousness for the composition of authorities among the nations in the context of world history and it is included to the area of Bolshevism. On the other hand, it focuses on the general benefits of the worldwide working classes rather than the benefit of their own working classes and rejects the nationalism which intensified differences among the people to their conflict. Also, it has an extension of nationalism which is different from bourgeois internationalism and universalism suturing the conflicts among the nationalism and far from cosmopolitanism and pacifism aiming at nonviolence unconditionally. Song, Young intended to get out of the simple reference for proletarian internationalism which was a core concept of the Comintern, reject to the desire of people identification and concentrate on individual realization of emotion rather than people or rank. The literary movements of Shim, Hoon and Kim, Dong Hwan who were members of "Yomgunsa"'s coterie have something in common with Song, Young because all of them intended to express the forbidden symbol. But, unlike Song, Young, their sense of internationalism was applied as a method understanding the split self - Joseon - by remembering the structure of colonization-noncolonization. Therefore, they are different from Song, Young because the love was delayed in the reasons for their socialism.
Song, Young's method to understand internationalism is expressed well in his position for the popularization of proletarian literature. He agreed to the popularization during the 'popularization dispute' that the struggling methodology for Japan became acute. But, Song, Young's situation for population problem is appeared more clearly in his response for the faction of foreign literature. He showed the intention to internationalize the whole art movements through the harmony between Joseon's particularity and global universality by exceeding the dispute of popularization dispute limited to Joseon's particularity. Finally, it made an issue of the recognition for the situation in the popularization dispute.
The internationalism in Song, Young's novels was expressed from the level of practice beyond the level of simple declaration. Especially, they actively accepted the sexual desire of character who has subjective tendency and combined it to passion for revolution through the behavior to overwrite the description of love and that of revolution. Song, Young organized the description of internationalism love at the same time by getting out of the situation that he must select one of love and idea. It is different from description drawing fellowship among the male activists and description of red love which is organized by thorough division of public-private areas. In the novels, the combination of love and internationalism is considered as a threatening matter for social system and equipment and controlled continuously. As “H.Marcuse” said that continuous suppression for human desire and greed and establishment of real principle had been repeated continuously in our history, the aspect is expressed repeatedly in the novels of 1930s. Song, Young started to recognize institutions and systems which imprison individual practice of idea seriously through the novels of 1930s. But, as there was a change for the creation methodology, it draws the time of family as the method expressing individual activist. The reason for that individual cannot but existing outside of description is it's difficult to seek it in social systems such as law, religion and school legally. Therefore, Song, Young judges characters in the institution following the ethics of capital and sends sights of pity for individual=activist=literary man who are opposite to it.
Song, Young was worrying about the problem to practice idea in the system legally without submission for institution's suppression through the novels of not only 1920s but also 1930s. It finally requests concentration because it maintains a certain gap from general forms of description in the period of proletarian literary movement's ebb. Therefore, this study is significant because the standpoints of reading Song, Young's novels can be expanded as the methodology to understand the general proletarian literary novels newly.
