This research studied relationship between frequency participating in sports activities and adaptation culture and environment in a university, especially by targeting Chinese students in Korea. It proved that frequency of participating in sports makes foreign students adapt Korean culture more easily. Moreover, It is the purpose of this research that helps foreign students help to overcome culture shocking in Korean culture and enjoy sports activity with their health. Furthermore, It would establish based data for being competitive global university by attracting foreign students and improving their welfare systems.
This research used convenience sampling to participated 500 Chinese students located A, B, C, D universities in Gyungki, Korea. This research used convenience sampling.
The survey paper was translated by Chinese, as well, it was already permitted by professors and all participated students in each classes about sports activities before researching. It used break time of theses classes. Also, other participants was in sports club. The purpose of this survey and notices would be considered by participants. It took about fifteen to twenty minutes to answer this survey. Total answered survey paper are 459, in those, used paper in research are 408 excepting 51 not to proper of answer.
The statistical program, SPSS 18.0 Version for Windows was used with the gathered data for descriptive analysis, t-test, chi-square test, one-way ANOVA and Post hoc test was conducted to prove significant differences.
The following results was shown with the research method and process stated above.
First, there are several differences of frequency of sports among some variables such as frequency, strength and duration by demographic variables, especially gender. To be specific, by duration of living and Korean ability, it shows meaningful differences in statics. Moreover, there are totally different by participating sports experience in China. In part of differences of adaptation of culture stress by demographic variables, it has a difference feeling of guilt by gender, also distinction, hostility by process of learning. As well, distinction, hostility, feeling of guilt and so on is appeared differences. However, both Korean ability and participating experience in sports activities don't have any differences in statics.
In part of differences of adaptation environment in a university by demographic variables, there are differences of academic, social, environmental adaptation by gender. In contrast, there isn't any difference of academic adaptation by learning process. Also, by duration of living and Korean ability, academic adaptation is appeared as a difference. Furthermore, there are differences of academic and social adaptation by participating experience in sports activities.
Second, participating sports activities doesn't influence any sub factor such as distinction, homesickness, hostility, fear, culture shocking, feeling of guilt and so on in frequency of participating sport activities.
Third, It was proved that frequency of participating sports activities influence on strength of participating and duration of adaptation in environment university, as well as, higher strength of participating and duration of adaptation in environment university show higher academic performance. Furthermore, duration of participating sports effects social and psychological adaptation. Moreover, the longer duration of participating sports students can, the higher social and psychological adaptation they can get.
Finally, about how culture adaptation stress of Chines students in Korea effects adaptation of environment in university, several sub factors like distinction, fear and culture shocking influences negative effect then higher distinction, fear and culture shocking make students get lower academic performance. To be specific, fear and feeling of guilt have negative effect on social adaptation, also the higher fear, culture shocking and feeling of guilt students have, the lower social adaptation they are able to get. Moreover, fear and culture shocking have negative effect then the higher fear and culture shocking connect to lower individual psychological adaptation. Lastly, hostility, fear, culture shocking and feeling of guilt has negative effect to adaptation of environment in a university. The higher these sub factor students have, the lower environmental adaptation they could get.
