디지털 영어교과서를 활용한 문화수업이 학생들의 학습태도에 미치는 영향 = The Digital English Textbooks' Impact on the Learning Attitudes of Students in Culture Class

국문 초록 (Abstract)

급속한 과학기술의 발달로 교육현장에서도 새로운 변화가 일어나고 있다. 디지털교과서가 서책형교과서를 대신하게 된 것이다. 영어교육에 있어서도 단순한 언어습득만이 아닌 문화교육의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 언어는 문화의 일부분이므로 문화는 외국어를 학습할 때 매우 중요한 부분이다. 따라서 외국어 교육에서는 타 문화를 이해는 것이 필요하다.
본 연구에서는 디지털 영어교과서를 활용한 문화수업이 학생들의 학습태도에 미치는 영향에 대해서 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 디지털 영어교과서 시범학교에서 학습에 참여하고 있는 학습자 48명으로부터 자료를 얻어 연구를 수행하였다. 디지털 영어교과서 활용 문화수업에 대한 학습태도가 서책형교과서 활용 문화수업의 학습태도와 비교하여 대부분의 영역에서 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 디지털 영어교과서의 다양하고 풍부한 학습 자료를 사용한 문화수업이 학생들의 학습태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 판단할 수 있다. 이는 다양한 콘텐츠를 효과적으로 활용하여 수업을 원활히 지도할 수 있도록 많은 연구가 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The advances in scientific technology have resulted in significant shifts within the education sectors. Paper textbooks are being replaced with digital textbooks. Current English education has transformed its original purpose of language learning and acquisition. It is also becoming increasingly salient in the transmission of culture education as well. With regards to this, several recent studies have tried to measure the impact of digital textbooks in lieu of their conventional paper counterparts in order to determine which impact, if any, they have on the learning attitude of students. There is no question that language and culture are so closely intertwined. Therefore, it is essential for a person interested in learning a second language to learn about the corresponding culture of that language.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether students' attitude towards learning change depending on the medium of their textbook (in this case paper vs. digital formats). The target sample consists of 48 students in a culture class at a school. Half of class was given the paper form of textbook, and the other half was given the digital form of textbook. The results of the study shows that those who used digital textbooks had better academic performance than those that used the paper form.
In conclusion, since the study found out that the students who used digital textbooks performed better, educators should take advantage of this new and valuable tool.
