The purpose of this study is to examine the didactical transposition of teachers' grammar knowledge by analyzing relevant materials each of which has been continuously made over a long period, providing suggestions about what teachers should consider in grammar education.
For the purpose, this researcher made the following research questions.
First, what are problems that a teacher had faced in relation to the teaching and learning process of grammar knowledge ?
Second, what are actions that a teacher had taken against those problems ? Third, what are changes that have been brought as those actions have been taken year after year ?
To get answers to these questions, the researcher analyzed learning papers, question items for assessment and self-reflection records that a teacher used or prepared for the past 3 years.
Findings of the study can be summarized as follows.
First, it is important to provide students with familiar and typical grammatical examples. It is more effective if those examples are associated with one another.
Second, communication with students are important for improving grammar classes. Questions and answers between teachers and students can help identify and solve problems of those classes.
Third, it is important for teachers to determine how much they are knowledgeable about grammar. Then they should make plans in detail about how to deepen their grammar knowledge and how to associate other things with teaching grammar.
This study is meaningful that it shows how self-reflection by a teacher can be feedbacked into grammar classes and then how those classes can be changed, ultimately helping the horizon of researches on didactical transposition in relation to Korean language education.
