The present study examined how parental's academic achievement pressure affect negative influences on children’s academic stress and academic burnout. Especially researcher focused on whether dysfunctional perfectionism had the role of mediation between high parental academic achievement pressure and children’s academic stress, academic burnout. 593 male and female students in 5th and 6th grade were recruited from 5 elementary schools. In order to measure the academic achievement pressure from parents, children’s academic stress and academic burnout and the role of dysfunctional perfectionism.
The major results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the higher academic achievement from parents is, the higher children’s Academic Stress and academic burnout. and The role of dysfunctional perfectionism mediated between academic achievement pressure from parents and children’s academic stress and academic burnout. Second, this study examined the interaction between academic achievement pressure from parents and lower level factors of children’s academic stress and academic burnout. As a result, it was found that there is correlation between lower level factors of children’s academic stress and academic burnout and academic achievement pressure from parents. Third, as a result of examining the mediation effect of sub-factors of the role of dysfunctional perfectionism. It was found that self-critical perfectionism had the role of mediation between academic achievement pressure from parents and lower level factors of children’s academic stress, academic burnout. while personal standards perfectionism didn't.
