The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of close relationship and mature rumination on posttraumatic growth. This study also aims to examine whether the mature rumination mediate the relationship between close relationship and posttraumatic growth.
For this purpose, sample of 552 university students (246men and 306 women) in Busan. were asked to complete Social Support Scale, Experience of close relationship-R Scale, mature Rumination Scale, and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. Simple correlation analysis, MANOVA analysis and structural equation modeling were used.
The results were as follows. As a result of the simple correlation analysis, posttraumatic growth showed significant positive correlation with social support, mature rumination and significant negative correlation with attachment-avoidance. As a result of MANOVA analysis, The respondents were divided into four groups based on the Experience of close relationship-R Scale. There were signigicant differences in social supports and posttraumaticgorwth between Secure/preoccupied attachment groups and dismissing-avoidant/ fearful-avoidant groups. Finally ,structural equation modeling analysis showed that mature rumination had full mediation effect between the relationship of social support and posttraumatic growth.
