The Purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the flow experience and participation adherence intention according to the participation motivation of extreme sports participants. For accomplishing this purpose of the study, the 228 subjects were selected by the stratified cluster random sampling method from the participants in extreme sports(Gate ball, Sportsdance, Gymnastics and sitted stretching) located in Gyeongsangbuk-do in the year of 2010, presently.
The survey questionnaires were used to collect data. The questionnaire for motivation of extreme sports participants were vased on SMS-28(Sport Motivation Scale) developed by Vallerand(1992) and LIM(Leisure Intrinsic Motivation) developed by Wessinger and Bandalos(1995), adapted in Korean and standardization by Jung(1997), Flow experience of extreme sports participants was based on ESCM(Expansion of Sport Commitment Model) developed by Scanlan(1993), adapted in Korean and standardization by Jung(1997), And, questioning participation adherence intention was based on Seo(2003).
The statistical methods utilized in this study for analyzing the collected data were reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA and standard multiple regression analysis. From the analysis of this study, the following conclusions were obtained.
Firstly, participation motivation, flow experience, participation adherence intention of extreme sports participants partially different by socio-demographic characteristics variable.
Secondly, the participation motivation of extreme sports participants is influence on flow experience.
Thirdly, the participation motivation of extreme sports participants is partially influence on participation adherence intention.
Finally, the flow experience of extreme sports participants is partially influence on participation adherence intention.
