This study was conducted to investigate the impacts of client violence on job satisfaction and burnout of social workers who work in a youth shelter For this study, survey was conducted from the 17th of June to the 22nd of July in 2010. Self-report survey questions were sent to workers who responded via mailing service. This study was based on the data from 268 workers surveys, excluding the responses from 2 workers.
According to the outcome of this study, more than 25 percent of the workers, who work in the youth shelter, answered they had an incident of client violence such as physical violence (indecent exposure, physical contact, inflicting an injury), emotional violence (verbal abuse,). The data show us that the client violence is experienced at a serious level and it is negatively associated with youth shelter social worker’s job satisfaction and Consequently, solving the client violence can contribute to improve overall job satisfaction and to prevent burnouts of workers who work in the youth shelter.
