The purpose of this study was to whether or not Expressive Art Therapy had any effects on the Self Expression and Interpersonal Problems of Juveniles Withdrawal Behavior.
The sample consisted of a total 20 students who volunteered to attend the J middle school students in Busan.
Those students were randomly allocated to an experimental group and a controlled group by 10 students, respectively and the study was 1- times, during 90 minutes twice or three times a week. Expressive Art Therapy was conducted in total 8 sessions in the experimental group from October 1 to October 15 in 2010. but there were no any actions in the control group during the same period. The Questionnaire on Resoures and Interpersonal Problems, Self Expression Test Scale was used as a Measurement instrument.
Mean and standard deviation of each pre and post test for the experimental group and controlled group were computed after implementing Expressive Art Therapy Program to verify the effects of the research, and ANCOVA was implemented to investigate the effect on The Questionnaire on Resoures and Interpersonal Problems, Self Expression.
The following are the results of statistical analyses.
First, Interpersonal Problems between the students who attended Expressive Art Therapy Program and those who did not, showed significant difference.
Second, Self Expression between the students who attended Expressive Art Therapy Program and those who did not, showed significant difference. The results of the study showed that Expressive Art Therapy Program is effective on Interpersonal Problems, Self Expression with Juveniles Withdrawal Behavior.
Therefore, this study imply that the program helped with Juveniles Withdrawal Behavior to regain emotional expression and advanced Self Expression, further more it suggested that it can be contribute to perform positive peer-relationship.
Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions of forward study were described.
