그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근법이 유아의 의사소통능력에 미치는 효과 = The Effects of Multi-Symbolic Approach based Picture Books on Children's Communicative Competence

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근법이 유아의 메타언어능력 관련 변인들(음운, 단어, 구문, 화용 인식)과 의사소통태도 관련 변인들(인지적, 정의적, 행동적) 그리고 의사소통전략 관련 변인들(준언어적 단서, 행위묘사, 반복, 의미론적 연결, 주의끌기, 지시하기, 상투어구)에 미치는 효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 실험집단 5세 유아 20명과 통제집단 5세 유아 21명 이었다. 실험 집단 유아를 대상으로 8주간 그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근을 실시하였으며 종속변인의 사전-사후 검사의 차이를 효과점수로 하여 다변인공변량분석(MANCOVA)을 실시하였다.

본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구결과와 논의를 토대로 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있다.
첫째, 그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근법은 유아의 메타언어능력 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근법은 유아의 의사소통태도증진에 부분적으로 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 의사소통태도의 하위요인 중 정의적 요인의 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났으나 인지적, 행동적 요인의 증진에는 유의한 효과가 나타나지 않았다.
셋째, 그림책을 활용한 다상징적 접근법은 유아의 의사소통전략 증진에 부분적으로 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 의사소통전략의 하위요인 중 행위묘사, 의미론적 연결, 주의끌기, 상투어구의 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났으나 준언어적 단서, 반복, 지시하기에서는 유의미한 효과가 나타나지 않았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the educational effects of Multi-Symbolic Approach based on Picture Books on children's metalinguistic ability, communication attitude, and communication strategy. The subjects of this study were 41 five-year-old children who were selected out of 2 different kindergartens in G city, Gyungbook province.
These children, 41 in a group, were assigned to each of the two groups which include test group and control group. The tests used to measure the dependent variables were Chung, Joo Won's Metalinguistic Ability Test(2005), Brutten & Dunham's Communication Attitude Test(1989), and Shin, Su Kyung's Communication Scale(2008). The statistical analyses were processed using MANCOVA.

First, the results showed that multi-symbolic approach based on picture books has significant effects on the improvement of children's metalinguistic ability including phonological awareness, word awareness, syntactic awareness, and pragmatic awareness.
Second, the results showed that multi-symbolic approach based on picture books has partially significant effects on the improvement of children's communication attitude including affective component, but excluding cognitive component and active component.
Third, the results showed that multi-symbolic approach based on picture books has partially significant effects on the improvement of children's communication strategy including description of action, semantic tying, call for attention, and tages, but excluding paralinguistic cues, repetitions, and directives.

In conclusion, Multi-Symbolic Approach based on picture books in the early childhood education generally showed positive effects on children's metalinguistic ability, affective component of communication attitude, and description of action, semantic tying, call for attention, and tages of communication strategy.
