This study identifies the effect of the educational environment of Meister High School which was established in 2010 on students' inner characteristics, by comparing between Meister School students and general vocational high school students in terms of affective characteristics. The purpose of the study is hence to provide Meister School with the preliminary data for its development and operation.
Research into the affective characteristics of 1st grade students from both Meister School and general vocational high schools was needed to achieving the objectives, and the result is as follows.
First, the study suggests that more students from Meister School choose their school in order to find a job than those from general vocational high schools. and many students from Meister School clearly think that in order to be offered better conditions, they need to have a high level of education, which makes high motivation in their studies.
Second, students from Meister School are more motivated in learning than those from general vocational high schools, which shows that Meister School allowed students to have high motivation by offering job training and a guarantee of employment.
Third, for the occupational view both groups have a high mean value but students from Meister School think that a little higher than those from general vocational high schools.
Fourth, students from Meister School take more positive views of their chosen school than those from general vocational high schools, there's not a significant difference, though.
Fifth, statistically the study has shown no significant difference between two groups in the attitude toward teachers, however in the detailed categories such as openness, intimacy, students from Meister School has a lower mean value than those from general vocational high schools. As for the qualification of teachers, the former showed a positive result, which is yet a slightly lower mean value than the latter.
Sixth, the significant difference was found in the attitudes toward learning where the students from Meister School has more positive results in terms of emotion, awareness and intention of action. Also for the attitudes toward experiment and practice(emotion, awareness and intention of action), they have a mean value which is higher and statistically significant.
Seventh, for the attitudes toward the major study related hobby, the students from general vocational high school showed a significantly negative attitude in terms of emotion and intention of action while in terms of awareness, the both groups showed positive results in particular Meister School students have a higher but insignificant mean value.
In addition, training for teachers and self-development through continuous learning and for teachers to have a positive attitude towards the students will be required, Finally, Meister high school students to pre-meisters as to grow the institutional aspects (scholarships, solid job security, etc.), environmental aspects (small class sizes, dorm Thistle, etc.), ongoing support and professional education and related internal attributes more to develop the various measures should be sought.
