고등학교 생물수업에서 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형의 효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형을 활용한 수업이 학생들의 학업 성취도와 학습 동기 향상에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연구를 위해 인천시에 소재한 고등학교 3학년 인문계열 학생들 5개 학급 총 118명을 대상으로 선정하였다. 선정한 학급을 통제 집단과 실험 집단으로 나누어 통제 집단은 전통적 설명 수업을 적용하고, 실험 집단은 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형을 적용한 수업을 실시하였다.
고등학교 생물Ⅰ의 ‘생식’단원을 총 5차시 분량으로 나누어 수업을 진행하였고, 각 차시의 학습 주제에 따라 학습 내용을 스스로 완성해나갈 수 있도록 학습지를 개발하여 효과를 높이고자 하였다.
이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형은 전통적인 설명식 수업에 비해 학업 성취도를 높이는데 효과적이었고, 특히 여학생들의 학업 성취도 향상에 유의미한 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형은 전통적인 설명식 수업에 비해 학습 동기 향상에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형은 시작 동기뿐만 아니라 지속 동기와 계속 동기도 향상시켜 수업 전반에 동기가 지속되도록 하였다.
이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 하여 학습 동기를 고려한 5E 순환학습 모형을 적용한 수업과 자료를 개발․활용하고, 더 많은 교과와 단원에 적용시킨다면 과학 학습에 대한 학생들의 학업 성취도와 학습 동기 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이라 생각한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study surveyed the effect which classes applying 5E Instruction Model considering learning motivation have on academic achievement and the improvement of learning motivation. For this study, 118 students of 12th grade in 5 classes were sampled from G High school in Incheon metropolitan city. The students was divided into two groups; one group was control groups which were taught by traditional teaching method of explanation and the other group was experimental groups which were taught by 5E instructional model considering learning motivation.
I taught 'reproduction' unit in biologyⅠ of high school divided into 5 periods and tried to increase the effect of learning so that students complete learning contents for themselves according study topics of each period.
The result of this study are as follows:
First, 5E Instructional Model considering learning motivation was more effective than traditional teaching method of explanation to increase academic achievement, and especially, it had meaningful effect on improvement of female academic achievement. Second, it was shown that 5E Instructional Model considering learning motivation was more effective than traditional teaching method of explanation to improve learning motivation. Third, 5E Instructional Model considering learning motivation improved continuance motivation and continuation motivation as well as participation motivation, which led students to have motivation during entire classes.
In conclusion, it can have positive effect on academic achievement and learning motivation in studying science to develop and make use of lessons and learning materials applying 5E Instructional Model considering learning motivation and to apply it to other subjects and units.
