The Effect of Strong Point-oriented Mediation on the Development Delayed Children's Attention and ConcentrationThe development of attention and concentration skill must take precedence in order for the learning; however, children with development delay have difficulty with attention and concentration bringing about failure in learning. Therefore, it is important to develop attention and concentration skill of children with development delay.Many scholars have said that controlled learning activity, induction with intentional activity, interesting contents and various teaching methods are necessary to improve attention and concentration behavior of children with development delay.This study found limit in problem-oriented approach that has been used for disabled children and therefore performed strong point-oriented approach that provides positive environment and opportunity to exhibit ability by finding strong point and finally observed the effect on the children with development delay for their attention and concentration behavior incidence and the increase in durable time of attention and concentration. In addition, we observed if the effect was maintained three weeks later the termination of this mediation. In this study, baseline, intervention and follow-up examinations were performed by using multiple baseline design among three situations of story sharing, fairytale and poem listening, and art class among single object research methods on a development delayed child attending private kindergarten’s unified class. This study has the following results.Firstly, strong point-oriented mediation increases the incidence of development delayed child’s attention and concentration behavior.Secondly, strong point-oriented mediation increases development delayed child’s attention and concentration time.Thirdly, the effect of increased attention and concentration behavior and increased time of attention and concentration was maintained even after the strong point-oriented mediation was eliminated.According to the above result, the strong point-oriented mediation is effective in increasing attention and concentration skill of development delayed child who has difficulty in attention and concentration and in maintaining these positive changes even after the mediation is terminated.
