The purpose of this study was to develop the Parent-Child Relationship Scale (PCRS), which measured the cultural uniqueness of the Korean Parent-Child Relationship. To achieve this purpose, a rating process by experts yielded 55 items from previous studies and measuring instruments. Then 39 items were selected for further study. Five hundred middle school students were selected to participate in this study. The results of this study were as follows: First, the Parent-Child Relationship Scale (PCRS) with 17 items related to the father and 29 items related to the mother were developed. The Cronbach α was .932 to father, .955 to mother. Therefore, the reliability of the scale was satisfactory. Second, the three factors to father and to mother have been extracted from the factor analysis. The three factors to father consisted of 'trust', 'natural parent-child bond', and 'devotion'. The three factors to mother consisted of 'trust', 'devotion', and 'natural parent-child bond'. The factor structure well reflected characteristics of the Korean parent-child relationship.
