고등학교에서의 국가 기념일을 활용한 창의적 체험활동 실시 방안 = A study on implementation Method of creative experience activities at High School through using a National Memorial day

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 고등학생을 대상으로 한 국가 기념일 교육 프로그램 개발을 목적으로 하고 있다. 국가 기념일 교육이 초등학교를 끝으로 거의 실시되지 않는 관계로 각종 기념일 즈음에서 시행되는 학생 대상 국가 기념일 인지도 설문조사의 낮은 통계 수치에 착안한 연구이다. 현재 국가 기념일 교육은 계기 교육 일환으로 각 급 학교에서 자율적으로 실시하다보니 체계적인 학습이 어려운 상태이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 2011년부터 정규 교육과정 시간으로 확보된 창의적 체험활동 시간을 이용하여 대중성, 상징성, 의미성이 높은 국가 기념일을 대상으로 기념일의 역사성을 탐구하고 기념일에 깃든 고귀한 정신을 학습하려는 것이다. 더불어 국가 기념일과 관련된 역사적 현장을 방문하는 현장체험학습을 병행하여 국가 기념일의 의미를 되새겨보는 뜻 깊은 시간을 갖고자 한다.
본 연구를 위하여 먼저 새롭게 적용될 ‘2009 개정교육과정’에서의 창의적 체험활동에 대한 이론적 배경을 살펴보았으며 국경일과 법정기념일을 대상으로 국가 기념일 종류와 내용을 조사하였다. 조사된 60종의 국가 기념일 중에서 현재 고등학생들이 배우는 역사 교육 내용을 바탕으로 체험학습이 가능하고 역사적으로 기념할 만한 국가 기념일을 주제별로 분류하였다. 이렇게 분류된 주제를 가지고 서울과 경기권 소재 전문계와 인문계 고등학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 국가 기념일 인지도 및 선호도 설문조사를 실시하여 학생들이 학습하고 싶어 하는 국가 기념일을 선정하였다. 선정된 주제로 연간 34시간 분량의 창의적 체험활동 프로그램을 개발하였고 매 차시 수업지도안과 수업자료 및 활동지를 수록하였다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.
첫째, 계기교육으로 학교별 권장사항으로 실시하던 국가 기념일 교육 관련 수업 시간을 창의적 체험활동 시간으로 확보함에 따라 국가 공동 구성원으로써 소속감과 유대감을 높이며, 애국심과 보훈 의식의 함양이 가능하게 되었다. 둘째, 교과서 속의 역사 인물과 사건 현장에 대한 심화 탐구 학습을 통해서 역사적 사실에 대한 재인식과 더불어 체계적인 현장 체험학습 계획을 수립하여 실시함으로써 이제까지 형식에 치우쳤던 역사 현장 체험학습의 내실을 기할 수 있게 되었다. 셋째, 부록에서 제공된 수업지도안을 통하여 창의적 체험활동 수업 자료가 마련됨에 따라 일선 교사들의 업무를 경감시켰으며 융통성 있는 수업을 가능하게 하였다.
이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 국가 기념일 교육이 보다 확대되기 위해서는 개발된 프로그램을 이용하여 실제 현장에서 수업을 실시한 후 문제점을 도출하는 실험연구가 왕성하게 이루어져야 한다. 또한 교사뿐만 아니라 학술기관 및 국가기관에서의 추가적인 수업자료 개발노력을 통하여 보다 활동적인 수업이 가능하게 만들어야 한다. 마지막으로 실질적인 현장체험학습을 실시하여 학생들이 학교에서 배운 내용을 확인할 수 있는 시간을 확보해야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study puts the purpose in developing the education programs of the national memorial day toward high-school students. Since the education of the national memorial day ends in the elementary school, questionnaire survey about the awareness of students for the national memorial day was conducted. The awareness degree of students about national memorial day appeared to be low according to the statistical figure. Currently, it is a state that the education of the national memorial day is carried out in each class voluntarily as a way of education, so that systematic learning is lacking. To solve this problem, historicity of the national holidays which account for the high rate in popularity, symbolism, and significance will be explored from 2011 by using creative experience activities in the regular curriculum. It will help students learn lofty spirits, inherent in a national memorial day. As well, it would be meaningful if the learning of field experience is combined with visiting historic site related to the national memorial day.
For the study, theoretical background about the creative experience activities was examined in the '2009 revised curriculum,' and kinds of the national memorial day and their contents were investigated targeting national holidays and legal holidays. This study classified national holidays with themes that deserve to be commemorated, and make it possible to do learning through experience among 60 kinds of national memorial day. The contents for the education of history are currently learned by high- school students.
Questionnaire survey about the awareness and preference of the national memorial day was conducted toward the first-grade students of academic high schools located at Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Based on selected themes, programs of creative experience activities were developed with the volume of 34 hours per year, and teaching plan. Teaching materials, and activities of each session were recorded. The results that are obtained from this study are as follows:
First, the security of hours in creative experience activities regarding the education of the national memorial day, which has been carried out by recommendations according to schools, heightens a sense of belonging and solidarity as members of a nation, and fosters a sense of patriotism and national merit reward. Second, intensive exploration about historic figures and sites in textbooks by establishing the plan for learning through experience and new understanding of historic facts solidifies the quality of learning in the historic field, which has been inclined to formal education. Third, the duty of teachers is reduced and flexible teaching become possible through the teaching guidance plan, offered by the appendix because teaching materials of creative activities is provided.
In order to expand the education of the national memorial day based on the results of the study, experimental studies which draw problems after carrying out real teaching in the field should be actively conducted. In addition, more active education method should be provided through developing additional teaching materials in academic institutions and national institutions as well as teachers. Lastly, students need to secure the time to confirm the contents of education.
