This study aims to examine the effect of the motive for exercise participation of participants in sports for all on exercise addiction, mental health and life satisfaction. For this, based on preceding studies and academic theories, hypothetical structural model with the motives for exercise participation, and variables including exercise addiction, mental health and life satisfaction was set and the causal relationship among variables was empirically investigated.
For the accomplishment of such objects, first, relative impact on the motive for exercise participation, exercise addiction, and mental health which have influence on life satisfaction was analyzed. Second, goodness of fit of a model which was proposed to explain the causal relationship between the motive for exercise participation of participants in sports for all and life satisfaction was decided.
This study took the total of 547 samples from people interested in sports for all in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas and participants in sports for all using public and private sports integrated center. However finally used effective samples were 500 persons excepting inappropriate for analysis.
The questionnaire was used to achieve the purpose of this study and reliability and feasibility of the questions was verified by preparatory research. The collected data through the questionnaire with 66 questions which was verified on reliability and feasibility through preparatory research were processed by methods including descriptive analysis, multiple regression analysis and structural equation model.
Results were obtained by the above research methods and procedures as follows:
First, relative impact of the motive for exercise participation, exercise addiction, and mental health, which have influence on life satisfaction of participants in sports for all, was analyzed. The result showed that the motive for exercise participation has positively significant influence on exercise addiction while having negative influence on mental health. And it didn't have any influence on life satisfaction according to the result.
And it showed that exercise addiction has positively significant effect on life satisfaction, that mental health has negatively significant effect on life satisfaction, and that exercise addiction has positively significant effect on mental health.
Second, the proposed structural model which is to explain the relationship between the motive for exercise participation of participants in sports for all and life satisfaction was relatively suitable.
