The paradigm of the education emphasizes social values in physical education. Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility model encourages students to apply positive social behavior through group discussion, goal setting and reflection. But there is little research on Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility model in physical education. Thus, the purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility model on social development in elementary physical education class.
The participants consisted of Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility model group(3th grade 78 students) and control group(3th grade 83 students). Data were collected using quantitative designs for Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility-learning class twice per week for three months. ANCOVA(analysis of covariance) technique was used to compare two groups
The results from the group comparisons showed a statistically significant difference (p<.05) between the group that received the interventions pre and post test scores for both anti and positive social behavior. a statistically significant difference (p<.05) was also found between the post test scores for the group of students who received the intervention.
