This study is to explore the effect of the computer education connected with home affects young children's computer skill, information literary, self-regulation and to study the process of change. The purpose of this thesis is to offer the basic materials to encourage young children's computer education both kindergarten and home training. when preschoolers use computers, they analyze out information by themselves. Throughout this process, children can become voluntary, active users. For this purpose, the research questions were as follows.
1. How the computer education connected with home can affect children's computer skill?
2. How the computer education connected with home can affect children's information literary?
3. How the computer education connected with home can affect children's self-regulation?
This study is built upon a single-group experiment to investigate the effect of the computer education connected with home. The targets were 28 young children under 5 in G-preschool and their parents. Research period is from September 9th to September 30th 2009 that kindergarten worked computer activities to children 18 times for 3 weeks including in parents education, activities and send out communications to parents. Computer education activities at kindergarten based on "Electronic Media Education Activities" in Ministry of Education, Science and Technology(2007), and revised applying children's situation. The questionnaire for investigating the change of children's attitude of use about computers checked out before and after test to parents. The questionnaire consisted of 24 questions was made up with 9 questions of computer environment and basic data, 4 questions of users computer skill, 3 questions of information literary, 8 questions of self-regulation. The result of before and after test was analyzed using paired sample t-test. This questionnaire was composed of 5 point measure. The questions without 5 point measure were calculated at frequency and percentage.
After the computer education, this research examined change of children connected with home.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, after the computer education coupled with home, preschoolers have improved the ability of use about computer equipment and changed a correct attitude, language using the computer.
Second, after the computer education coupled with home, preschoolers have had the variety of activities and contents about computers. Also, there are many children increasing access to sites for children instead of violence and cruel sites or turning off the computer by themselves.
Third, after the computer education coupled with home, preschoolers have only used limited time on computers. After that, they can control computer using- time by their self-regulation. Young children who too much focus on computer activities, play computers without their parents knowing decreased after that program. Also, the number of preschoolers showing aggressive behavior dropped when turning off the computers or getting some problems on them. After young children have the computer education, they show a perceptible change in their behavior.
