The purposes of this study are to comprehend the importance of mother's rearing attitude by verifying the effect of mother's rearing attitude on children's subjective well-being and to comprehend variables which effect on children's subjective well-being by verifying whether children's perfectionism has the mediating effects or not.
The targets of this study are 342 children of 5th and 6th grade of elementary school and analysis methods which were used for my study are follows.
First, to measure children's subjective well-being, positive affect and negative affect scale for children and K-MSLSS was used. Second, to measure mother's rearing attitude, parent's rearing attitude test developed by Kim, yu-ja(1996) was used. Third, to measure children's perfectionism, The Adapt ive/Maladaptive Perfectionism Scale developed by Rice and Presser(2002) was used . Forth, to analyze corrected data for this study, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis was used.
The summarized results of this study are follows.
First, the result of correlation analysis among each variables indicated that all variables showed significant correlations, except for approval needs, mother's autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes, sensit ivity to mistake, affection-rejection rearing attitudes, organization, negative emotion, mother's autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes which are assumed as children's perfectionism mediating variables.
Second, in correlation between mother's rearing attitude and children's perfectionism, it was indicated that Approval Needs and sensitivity to mistake which are the subordinate factor of children's perfectionism showed positive correlation with mother's affection-rejection rearing attitudes and negative correlation with autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes. Organization which is the subordinate factor of children's perfectionism showed positive correlation with affection-rejection rearing attitudes.
Third, in correlation between mother's rearing attitude and children's subjective well-being, it was indicated that positive emotion and life satisfaction which are the subordinate factor of children's subjective well-being shows positive correlation with affection-rejection rearing attitudes. Negative emotion which is the subordinate factor of children's subjective well-being showed negative correlation with autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes.
Forth, the result of analyzing mediation effects of children's perfectionism on the relation between mother's rearing attitude and children's subjective well-being showed that children's perfectionism have partial mediating effect on the relation between mother's rearing attitude and children's subjective well-being. Negative emotion which is showed significant correlation with autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes in the relation between mother's rearing attitude and children's subjective well-being showed negative correlation with affection-rejection rearing attitudes instead of autonomous-controlling rearing attitudes by mediating with children's perfectionism.
These findings suggest that children's perfectionism is very important mediators of relation between mother's rearing attitude and children's subjective well-being. Thus, mother's rearing attitude have an effect on development of perfectionism which is children's personal variable and children's perfectionism have an effect on children's subjective well-being. Therefore, the result of this study arouses the importance of parent's education and shows a desirable parent roles and the implication of the rearing attitude way.
This study contribute to support for children's healthy development and emotional adjustment for happy life and provide information for preventing children's maladjustment and treating it by focusing on not children's negative sides, but positive sides such as subjective well-being.
